Thumbs up Big thanks to Luke

Just like to say a big thanks to luke who spent a good hour last night helping me with a few items that i was struggling to grasp. I'm certainly feeling the whole picture is coming together now and i'm feeling confident that when i get into a fighter i've got a good chance of coming back alive but not only that but a good chance i can kill someone when i'm up.

And that was prooved out when i stole Luke's kill in the VWF we did straight after. So thanks Luke, appreciate your help a lot

I've since seen the tracks.....and once I'd sorted out who was who (you gotta learn to name tracks properyl guys, from who's perspective etc) I realised TiG was on a mission.

Nice Yo yo TiG...twice you nearly overshot..and once was a cracking high yo yo and look to the left.

But I gotta say....HOW THE HELL do you use the MOUSE to look.....and WHAT were you looking at for the first 2 minutes....cos I CANT SEE SOD ALL and then a dot appears....

But the funniest and most weird thing is that if you use [ and ] to slow the track down, and hit P to pause it, (at about 8 minutes,) when TiG delivers the killing shot.....he seems to miss.....hit hitting shot that smokes the engine is about 5 yards behind.

I have watched some other tracks and noticed this too....and its not lag.....I wonder if the engine dies LATER than the bullet hit....

not that it matters, but its my twisted mind seeing things that make little sense to what is actually a structured mess of thoughts

    Hat has sugested more 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 and I think its a superb idea...

but TiG....HOW do you spot them so far away.....if you really can see something from the outset of that track then my Monitor DOES need swapping cos I dont see anything for AGES

Luke suggested that we both comment on running through our tracks with commentry after we finished, again blooming useful to understand what happened, the key aspect being Luke's stall. Thats what gave me the advantage and i was determined not do throw it away.

I took special notice of when we both see target, I think i'm at around the 1:40 mark and luke catches me at 2:00. I'm very pleased with my ability to spot targets at the moment. I managed to find a 109G6 last night in VWF too which was good.

As for combat using the mouse is essential for me, i NEED to know where the person is going, as this is the weak aspect of my game, I need to build my repertoire of manoeuvres up, both to get onto someone's 6 and to shake them from my six.

I've found that if i use the mouse to look with my right hand, that my left hand being weaker is much gentler on the input meaning i'm not yanking the stick all over the place. First 90 seconds on my side is the sheer panic of taking luke on in a 1:1 heh.

The wierd thing is i've not looked at this again from externals yet, i'm going to do that tonight as i think it will add yet another aspect to the fight that i've not yet appreciated.

I'll run you through with commentry if you want when i next catch you online... but yep i've got eagle eyes - and i think mouse look is the key for me, instead of distinct areas you move to with the HAT switch what i do from memory is sweep the sky, with doing this what i gain is that my eye detects slight changes in colour going across the screen?. Thats what i believe gives me the advantage on spotting people. 20 seconds advantage in knowing where luke was a relief.

The panic that sets in as you well know when you lose your target is awful. Luke commented that and you can see it in the track that he actually misses me in his view twice, once after i'd damaged him and he was rolling left and couldn't roll right that well.

But its all credit to luke for this as thats what i was taught....

what still staggers me is how LONG you can lose a plane behind the metal frame of your own canopy....

it happens to you too....the plane goes behind the frame work, and then something happens where maybe Luke changes direction a bit , or maybe you do...and he stays BEHIND the canopy frame and DOESNT come out.....and when he DOES come out, you clearly dont see him....

I do now its not a stressfull enviroment, but I LOSE THEM EVERYTIME in real servers...

and I do notice that the enemy plane has an uncanny knack of following the shape of the frame, even going UP when its behind the vertical frame......

    sods law I guess

Also, planes now seem to be harder to see against the green ground and also against the real blue of the high sky....

I think I gotta open my eyes

tell me about not sein em against the ground.... last VEF I flew with my old monitor I was in a Yak 9.. the one with the tinted armour glass windscreen. I could hardly see the ground through it let alone the 109 I was chasing.. only by dint of him leaking did I spot him again but he was too far away to do anything about it by the time I caught sight again. Much better now I've got a bit of brightness without unfocussing, although this one's too red.... another one coming in tonight tho.. fingers crossed
