Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Thanks you two. :)
Ah well, so no Rancor tooth lightsaber for me :( ;)

I have to say it appears to be shaping up to be a good game but I wonder if everyone I know will be on the same server... I kind of doubt it.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
You never know, it might be a rare drop! :P
As for being on the same server;
Create a Guild, get all your friends to join and then get it imported!
I've got a few people i want to play with so we're all in the same Guild. If sufficient people in the Guild have preordered (i believe it's 3) then the Guild is classed as "Active" and will be imported into the game. Then during character creation it will automatically put Guild members onto the same server so there's no hassle.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
just a quick update, it is going to be a global release on the 20th now not 2 dates which would be daft.

I’m the same :) Pre-ordered SW but couldn't stop myself and paid for WoW over the weekend but I’m really looking forward to play SW. Hope I won’t be disappointed...
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Talks of Early Access have been in the figure of "days".
I'd probably expect 5 days for the first lot of people who pre-ordered/registered their copy.
They're staggering the early access so those who registered first will get the full amount of time and those who did it later may start slightly later (but still before the release date :P).
I think if you enjoy WoW then you'll love SWTOR (if you're a fan of Star Wars/KoTOR)... it's definitely WoW meets KoTOR (as opposed to the other way round), i wouldn't necessarily says that's a negative point however.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
im hoping its not even 5 days to be honest, granted i have pre-ordered it but still, and i don't know why but a headstart annoys me - stick with the novelty in-game items.
has any new news come up about this 'portable vendor' you get with the deluxe edition?

The main reason why they staggered the Early Access is so that they can ease in the number of players instead of having them all pile in at launch.
I've heard that some MMOs have had issues with player load on the first day and it ended up being a rather negative experience (i think it was Rift that had to open up a load of extra servers on the first day?).
As for the Collector's Edition Vendor, the main thing i heard about them was that they sell "Social Items", which could be special looking equipment that you'd then Mod to make the stats befit an item of your level. Since you can constantly mod it, it can then stay with you throughout your game time (theoretically).

Well 5 days is not a lot but always something better then nothing .. :)
I have been playing WoW for many years now and really enjoy it. We had our ups and downs etc but I can say that for me it's really good game and well developed.
If indeed TOR will be WoW meeting KoTOR I wouldn't be disappointed :)
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
another question for me is now all sites are launching on the 20th at midnight (officially) what time zone do you think that will be?

I think it will be different for different continents... At least I hope so :)
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Well, technically the only launch continents are Europe and North America.
Also they state "simultaneous" launch so i think it probably would be US time since that's what we've been "moved forward" to.
However, with the advent of Early Access, i don't really think it matters that much any more.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Apparently the Pre-Order Page has been updated to state Early Game Access for Preorders will now be "Up to 5 Days"
Clicky.
Pretty much in line with what i was expecting.
I assume that they'll tier out the Early Access either in terms of 24 Hours or 12 Hour slots dependent on when you registered the game.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I pre-ordered late because of money stuff, with a new rig coming and all. I probably won't get early access at all :P I preordered last month. There were figures suggesting 60% of preorders was on the first day they opened them up for it so I'm not holding my breath.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
If I remeber correctly from when I pre-ordered it was 5 days head-start for deluxe edition and 2 days for normal edition.
