Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
The guild I joined have had to move servers from the one we were allocated. From what they were saying it's become these place all the Scandinavians have swarmed to.
They've moved to Hex Droid.
I say they as my accounts not active yet... but I did only preorder the day before they took the guild registration down. ;)

Don't worry, you didn't miss anything.
Apart from getting to talk with one of the Lead Writers and getting a signed Poster, it was a waste of time.
Would have been much better spent playing Early Access instead.
Basically it was designed for people that hadn't pre-ordered the game yet as you could pick up a copy there and then (with the possibility of it being signed and you winning more stuff). However i think only about 5-6 people actually bought the game there.

I playing with a bunch of friends i've made from League of Legends and Eve Online, we're sort of a sparse mix of US (West, Central and East) as well as some people from EU. Since we all wanted to play together, we decided that East Coast would be in the middle.
It's not like Latency matters that much on an MMO anyways (i get around 150ms) and it's perfectly playable. Also, i don't know whether or not i'd want to risk it with all the EU servers being located in Ireland.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Got my email at 6pm, just got in from work to a 1000+ queue on our server.
I thought this whole waved release thing was to avoid that? Oh well, got an hour to kill now...

It was more to stop people from overloading the server all at once.
Also, it's to make it so 1000+ people aren't trying to do the same quests etc. at the same time.
Another reason i rolled on a US Server is that less people are on when i usually play (and it'll ramp up as the day/night goes on).

So it's like Alton Towers? :p
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
lol, read a statement over on eurogamer that basically said they were expecting queues and they won't be getting better till after launch when they bring more servers online.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Got a link? Finding it hard to get any real information about their stance on the queue's. They are absolutely horrendous and I will cancel my pre-order if they are not sorted soon.

It's in an official announcement by them.
clicky
If you wanted to read in between the lines, it's basically stating they're not sure how many people will stick around after launch, so they don't want to open servers just to have to close and merge players later on down the line.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Found it http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...ll-out-opinion
Basically the same as above:
Quote:
"You'll see more servers coming online tomorrow, and almost certainly there will be some queuing," said Reid.
"That was always expected. As a reminder, our plan here is to maintain healthy server populations post launch, and during the excitement of launch that will mean queues. That said, we'll be working hard to keep those queues reasonable."
The BioWare-developed MMO is due to officially launch on 20th December.
The bit I can't understand is people are paying to play the game and buy the actual boxset, they have no right to say yer queues are fine.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I caved yesterday when this popped up on origin..meant to go and play BF3 and instead found myself buying TOR lol. Despite promising I would stick to wow..luckily bt infinity meant that it only took 1.5 hours to download + install the game, which admittedly was the only reason I could actually get this over digital distribution.
Simply put..it's awesome ;) Looks great, plays great - the movies to give you the quest info are great (The first time through at least..), and so far it's just shedloads of fun. I signed on at 2pm yesterday and signed off at 2am as a level 14 Jedi Sentinel. Fun stuff. Also.despite really hating PVP in wow..in TOR I find it really fun - easy to just jump in and play, and you can cope without needing lots of specific PVP gear..at least so far.
I am on Rebel Moon (EU) if anyone joins that server and wants to add me (FuzzyWuzzy) - didn't have a queue yesterday at all but then again I did only log in once..
I bought the game yesterday and got straight in - no waiting around for early access etc, it was instant for me.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
im going to revisit this thread next month and see if the interest is still high in this game as many MMO's dont do well past the first month :(
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
£59.99 on origin, any difference to the retail copy when its available Tuesday from £34.99? or just paying extra £25 to start abit earlier?

Technically, when you purchase from a retailer, you should be emailed an "Early Access Code" as well so you can start early (Early Access isn't Origin Exclusive).
Some places have apparently been very bad with sending these out though but i heard that they caught up with pre-orders and now it's pretty much Instant Access upon pre-ordering (don't quote me on that).
I'd personally just order a physical copy and hope that you get the Early Access Code.
Also, £60 is for the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Standard Edition is £44 on Origin.

I think the regular version is £45 - the £60 one is for the digital plus pack or something..gives you a free mount and a bit of extra gear, nothing too impressive (not worth £15!).
No difference to a retail copy though on the £45 one - just means you can definitely start playing today rather than waiting until final release..I paid the extra but meh..£15 isn;t much these days, and it really is good fun :)
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Order through thehut tbh! As most people slate them i preordered a couple weeks ago but didnt get a code so i emailed them (this was a day after preordering as well i knew i needed it asap!) and they emailed me a day later with my code so it seems they just needed a nudge, also had an email today that they have despatched my copy :) not bad for £30 including quidco!.
