Yak9 Marlin Furball
Luke and Dak and myself were on VEF last night, Yak 9's as steads escorting Kami and the il2's to target in the City on south of map, Everything is going well Luke has gone advanced recon, myself and dak holding at ~2k with the il2's.
Luke kills one single bf109 over target, resistance is light?, where is everything?, Dak follows with il2's to target and i hold north of City to watch for inbound bandits.
Figure they turn up from the West coming east as next thing i know when i look back is that Luke and Dak and all the il2's have got ever single enemy plane bar one that was shot down on them.
Use my height advantage to get into the fight quick and start tracking a bf109g6, next thing i know i've got tracer coming over the top of the cockpit, pull all the negative G to try and duck under following tracer and then pull a hard right.
Luke's calling for help with 2 on his tail, managed to get round and pull them off for a second or two with them breaking.
I've picked up a couple more bf109's on my tail myself now and have to break again and pull it low and turn hard through to try and keep these 109's from killing me. We feel outnumbered by miles, Kami's got 3 110's with him and sadly for us we can do nothing to help at this time.
Dak and Luke have already run out of ammo and advise me that they are bugging out bearing 30. I think running sounds sensible, and with the last remaining height i've got put it hard to the deck and get 470 out of the plane. See Luke infront with 109 on his tail, closing very slowly but it looks like i could be too late if i wait any longer, so with my last remaining ammo i smoke the 109 who bugs out.
Only fighters who went into battle was MA with AI, all MA came home alive, from what was the MOST intense dogfight i've ever been in :)

Yak 9....
:)
I'll be up tonight then :)
you guys need prop pitch in that :) she's fast if you get it right...

Was an immense DF Luke scored a beaut of a kill, I was just under and behind him watching his 6, the ammo went quick and I damaged 2 110s and 2 109s but couldnt stay on one long enough to finish them off, pulled one of Kamis 6 and had another 110 sat right on my 6 blazing away lol, good comms work although we had to reley big time on cover from ai which is never that comfortable. Took a few hits but only from light guns no cannon damage. The Yak 9 out runs 110s and 109s at low level if as Zak says you get the prop pitch right :)
-
I was pretty pleased with the kill :) Don't suppose either of you have a track of that mission though?? Would like to relive the whole moment, and see how close we were all to death ;)
-
Nope sadly not, i've got a great track of the next VEF mission where you had the pilot screen bug luke pretty pleased with my performance even if i did get KIA in it.

if you have to run in a Yak9 its worth trying to drop the throttle a tad and listen for the prop pitch chjange....they DO overheat....:(
Rads slow her a bit....but then most 109's overheat too if pushed...
but best of all.....it will go over onto its canopy from about 270 ish if you're gentle and use flaps at the top......and then Immleman back if they're far enough away...
superb plane....probably not well enough "powered up" in FB cos the Russkies loved her to bits...and its not as good as that "in game"
Yak 9 K.....fear the 45 mm canon....fear the recoil too ;)
Forget the Lagg3 IT and the Yak 9 T...the K is the DADDY of noob canons :)

what about that ridiculous Me-262 with the hooooge gun on the front that's as long as the aeroplane??? silly silly gun but it don't half turn stuff to mush....
