I've been here long enough, seen this forum long enough, time to ask...
What's so good about this IL2 malarky?
I have an old sidewinder precision pro joystick. Should I grab a copy and take it for a spin?

Yes
That was alot of persuading
Be warned though kez, its a realistic game, you got flaps, gear, super charger, propeller pitch, landing light and loads more controls to get to grips with.
It can be tricky at first but if you stick at it, you'll be an ace in notime![]()
ROFL - Kez, one thing matey, if you only intend to pick it up for 5 minutes then don't bother, because this thing will either suck you in and spit you out, warn out, dried up and totally depressed, or you'll manage to get one single day/mission of perfection and wonder how this all worked out
It requires practise to fly with us online, and we do fly a lot, and we're happy to help you but to fly with us regularly means a fair amount of effort.
Plus its about a £50 outlay for Il2 Forgotten Battles and Aces Expansion pack which we are all now flying...

Bargain I think, where as from other sites it'll cost you just short of 50 notes. I get almost all my games from there, they give some seriously good discounts.
TiG is right though, this is a game you don't just pick up to have a quick game of, it takes up a hell of a lotta time if you get good. I had it for about a month and I bin playing it on LAN every single weekend because its so addicitve. And it's also a crack up to do a Kamikazi attack on your friend while he's trying to take off![]()
If you do get into it, you'll love it
Dont be scared off by the number of buttons n stuff tbh, the only ones u need are flaps, gear, radiator, fuel mix, supercharger n thats about it, I dont use any of the other bits n I seem to manage fine..
Yeah Trig doesnt often use the triggers
Get it mate best online game ever imho
Ram it mawfaw, I meant keyboard buttons....![]()
but be aware...
there are Natural Pilots (Trig)
there are practiced pilots (Dak)
there are young quick learners (Luke)
and then there are flounders (MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)
it can make you madder than you can possbily imagine....but that elusive kill, that time when you come upagainst someone like you were, only a month before....the divine feeling of "dont do that, or I'll getcha...oh...go on then....if you insist" is the hook in the top lip of the fish...
once its got ya.....you don't escape
I'm happily hooked....the floats under, the rod tip is bent double, the reel's clutch is slipping and I'm running for the weed bed![]()
