I know that, what I meant was that the majority of people won't have a clue what IL2 is, so saying it scores 70fps with everything maxed in IL2 will mean nowt to most people.Originally posted by Zak33
Nahh.....you got it all wrong....a Benchmark is something to help you buy the RIGHT GRAPHICS CARD for the game you already own...not the other way around
The reason Q3 et al are used is cos people know what it does on their own machines, the know that they get 50fps with max detail in Q3, therefore the card/board/chip/whatever being reviewed is X amount quicker than what they have now.
Everyone who studies benchmarks knows what their own rig can do with 3D Mark, Sandra, Q3... cos anyone interested in getting the last bit of performance out of their rig has those bits of software to see how well they're doing. And if you're after framerates you're going to be a FPS player more likely than not.
(Unless you're a Seti cruncher, in which case fps are irrelevant... but you'll still check processor and mobo benchmarks)
