    Keypress.dll and Teamspeak

This maybe of interest to some of you..

Norton AV picked up a trojan Alert on my PC last night when I fired up TS.. and quite happily deleted the keypress.dll file (that is loaded when TS is launched) on the basis that it was infected.

I have done a huge Vscan, found nothing.. and have been doing a bit of research, with the following findings:

Recent updates to virus definition files cause most virus scanners to now recognise the version of keypress.dll distributed with TeamSpeak as a trojan. Now, the TeamSpeak folks are quite up front about the fact that TeamSpeak does send them some information when you use it, strictly so that they can keep track of how many people are using Teamspeak. The actual trojan being detected is one that sends keypress information to a specific destination, so it is likely that this intentionally trojan-like piece of TeamSpeak is now being recognised as an actual trojan.

It is just that a piece of TeamSpeak that has been on your system for however long is now being flagged as a trojan.

The TeamSpeak folks are aware of the problem and have compiled a new download of the TeamSpeak client which is not falsely detected as a virus. Simply download it from their site and reinstall. Do not download it from any other site, as you will probably just get the old version. And, obviously, don't reinstall from an old download you have lying around - you'll just get the same thing you already have.
