Just sat reading through the book, couple of things concern me like it doesn't mention mouse movements to select through the relevant menus just keyboard keys like arrow or A/D then mouse button to select relevant hand for weapon, would of thought you would be able to navigate through with mouse? not that it matters mind you.

The weapon craft does sound good though, grindstones for improving weapons, workbenches for upgrading armour, forges to create items then smelting/tanning/cooking. Guess I know were my lvls will be going lol.

I've only played oblivion previously, and I didn't finish it, and I've found Skyrim to be very enjoyable. There are a few vague references to oblivion and morrowind, but nothing that is confusing.

Anyone tried the 1.2 patch yet? I'm holding off until its been 'field-tested' because it seems there might be problems with it.

You can navigate with the mouse; though to be frank the menu system is somewhat unintuitive and it can sometimes be quicker just to use the keys!

Used it last night, didn't have any issues and it seems to have removed the lag spikes I was getting in my first half hour of play leaving the game silky smooth! It did, however, conflict with some mods I had installed. If anyone experiences issues I suggest disabling and enabling any .esp mods you have one at a time, worked for me .

It's working great apart from an oddity with elemental resistance properties not seeming to apply. There's already a fan fix for it, but the patch does fix the mouse rate issues and improve responsiveness for me.

Is it sacrilege to play this on the PC with an xbox 360 controller? I played about an hour of it last night and the interface seems very controller-centric.

Apart from FPSs, XBox controller is fast becoming the best input device for a PC IMO

Use whatever you like!

For me, Skyrim is much better on mouse and keyboard - there's no better control for first person perspective that feels like I'm actually looking around the world as my character would.

Well finished the main quest and I was a little disappointed to be honest, since a friend pointed me at the stacking loop option, I was able to take down the boss in 5 swings...

Obviously it was my choice to stack things to the maximum, but honestly, I was a little surprised that the game allowed it to be done. Guess playing MMO's spoilt me in terms of what to expect, knowing that you needed to push the boat out to stand half a chance of victory.

Yeah there's more freedom in an open game like Skyrim - freedom to exploit mechanics or not - up to the player to tell the story how they want to.

go into menu and then gameplay i think its under , its defaulted normal iirc but i have it on master as its much more challenging .

Has anyone else found that the 1.2 patch has majorly broken Skyrim for them?

I can no longer load ANY of my save games, it just hangs indefinitely on the level loading screen...

Confusingly I can start a brand new game and play quite happily, but as soon as I save and quit I am then unable to load my saved game back up again...

Anyone else had this, or know of a solution? Googling came up blank :/

Not had a problem myself, but I've seen the rare report on the official forums that looks the same. Have you reverified the steam cache (delete the skyrim/prefs ini files from my documents as well and it'll rebuild them properly)?

Yup - did a complete uninstall (keeping the save games only) and then redownloaded everything through steam, didnt fix it

I'd have thought if it was a ini problem it would hang / crash on trying to start a new game? Very confusing, as begining a new game takes me to the same loading screen, but after maybe 10 secs the game begins... On trying to load a game I go to the same loading screen (which shows my correct level progress etc) but it just sits on that loading section indefinitely (Ive left it upwards of 30 mins before giving up).
