    Re: Tribes Ascend

Never knew that they were releasing a new tribes game! Shame it's going to be free to play (eww micro transactions) but hey can't complain at another Tribes game..I loved Tribes 2 and lost many hours to that before Planetside came along..so I'll definitely be giving this a try

How does it play at the moment? Does it restore the feel of Tribes 2 or is it closer to the "dumbed down" vengeance release from 2004? Also I know the beta is limited to 32 players..but any indication if we'll get 64 player maps back?

It plays pretty good, check the video out if you want to see the physics in action.

It needs a few changes ( better maps, less hitscan weapons ) but it's close.

Also not sure why anyone would want 64 player maps too much mayhem.

Thanks for that video! I am so hyped for this game. I've never played a Tribes game but this is as close as it gets to Unreal Tournament, right? I love the fact that it's free to play as well. My filthy pirate friends won't be able to pirate this one! There's also been a huge update to the beta from what I've been reading and apparently the game is brilliant now. Can't wait to give it a go myself.

i cant say that i have heard of this game before. i think i recognize it from a tb mailbox video. it looks fun though and i might have to try it out. however i would have been nice to try out the beta. is it fun and worth the money. the art style reminds me of halo 3 with the bright colours .

    Re: Tribes Ascend

Been playing for a week or so - codes are free in this months PCGamer or for a "like" on facebook. It's really good, if a little lacking in maps. Strangely addictive. Has the ability to make you feel like a pro for doing relatively simple things. Everything is unlockable with xp - although some things will take aaaagesss naturally. Anyone want to add each other up?

The beta is an open one now so everyone is welcome. The game is very fun! I am enjoying this free to play trend exclusive to the PC.

I am loving it, I was really into tribes 2 and got pretty good at it, was even in a competitive tribe and played quite a few "proper" matches

I never played any of the original Tribes games, so I wouldn't be able to tell any stories from long ago, let alone compare the games from back then to Tribes: Ascend. Doesn't stop me from really liking the newest entry in the franchise, though. What's your user name? Perhaps we've met!
