isnt alan wake 2 going to be out about the same time?
First was a great game though very atmostpheric![]()
Was looking forward to buy this when they were touting it for the pc, don't think I'll bother with a long overdue console port.

Yeah - port maybe - but its still a good play. Genuinely creepy in places and the flashlight/shoot mechanic, although a bit samey, gets bloody frantic when you are surrounded. I would say its worth it if you like that genre of psych/scary action.
I havent picked this up myself, as Ive got the 360 version, but a mate has picked up the collectors edition from Steam and I have to say it looks awesome in high resolution. The tension isnt the same as I've played it through before, but I wouldnt say Remedy have chucked out a standard port.
There are a good raft of tweakable graphics options and seeing it at 1920x1200 running 40-60 fps is a real noticeable difference. Control options are fully tweakable and as you would expect you can use a 360 pad seamlessly.
The collectors edition comes with the 2 DLC which I never got on 360, so really having a thing about getting it... though £22 is a bit steep for a game you already have DLC or not... But if you havent got it on 360, I would defintiely say its the definitive version of the game.

Bought it through Steam on Friday evening as £22.99 for the Collectors' Edition is a good price. Really enjoying it so far, lovely atmosphere.
Ahaha...at last. I need to get this after managing to stay completely away from the 360 version.
Any feedback so far?

AFAIK the DLC comes with the normal edition as standard. The collectors edition is just the soundtrack (not lossless) and some PDF with concept art in.
As for feedback, i loved the 360 verison so I've double dipped. Performance is great on the system to the left, looking at around ~60FPS on full settings/1080p - so not a shoddy port given how good the game looks, IMO.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Cool. I couldn't believe how much more detail there was in the backgrounds etc compared to the 360 one. Not worth getting right now on second thoughts, as I have so much to play, but will have to pick it up when it comes down a bit - by that time, will have 'forgotten' how it felt like to play it through, so can treat it as new![]()
this made me excited.... but it was long long ago.
I'm not sure I'm excited anymore.....really.... is it worthy?

I am really enjoying it. The atmosphere is really good and the story is well put together. The sound on it is superb.
Onto chapter 3 at the min and it has me hooked. It does kind of remind me of Silent Hill 2 crossed with Twin Peaks in a way.
One thing that is starting to worry me though is the whole night mechanic, for example at the beginning of Episode 3 you are in a trailer park. Stuff goes down and you have to escape. What it is though is run off into the forest again. The first Episode was forest and then onto sawmill and further into forest then logging camp. Episode 2 goes forest then abondoned mill, campsite, visitor area all surrounded by you guessed it, forest again! Most the time stuff goes down in the forest. Its like a creepy forest simulator!
I just hope you actually get to see more than just forest the further you venture in, you spend more time in wooded areas than anywhere else in the game. Granted the effects are good with the distortion when the wind kicks in and the way the trees blow, its a really creepy atmosphere. You know you are going to be attacked in groups of 3 when the trees start blowing and you get the distortion. If theres more than 3 theres usually a generator that you start to create a light circle which usually thins their numbers.
Still, I am enjoying it, cant complain at the price either for a game that was initially released 2 years ago, currently £23 on Steam. Remedy have looked after their PC fans with this one. Just hope that a few of the other developers will follow and we could eventually see the likes of Gears 2 & 3 on the PC.

On 16th July 2009 I was moaning that I'd had a quad core for ages just because of this game... lol

System requirements seem fairly low considering how nice it looks (6950 could run @60FPS with everything maxed including SSAO and 8xAA/16xAF)
And it most certainly does have an air of "Silent Hill" about it........
