Red face Skyrim max settings on an i7.

Hi I am wondering if any of you are currently playing skyrim, with or without mods, on an i7 PC with either a radeon 6950 or a Nvidia GTX 560ti on ultra settings?

And what is the performance like with those cards?

I am looking to upgrade my dated radeon 5000 series for something a little beefier!

My current setup is an i7 860 CPU running win7 64bit Pro with 4GB ram.

Re: Skyrim max settings on an i7.

Which 5000 series card have you got? there's little performance difference between the 6950 and 5870
Even the 5850 is no slouch being just behind the 6870 or gtx560 non-ti

The i7 means nothing to skyrim, like with most games any more than 2 cores adds almost nothing, the turbo boost thingy should help (ie the clock boost when fewer cores are being used)

Skyrim like many games seems to have some issues with FSAA, x2 seems to be the sweet spot for it.
Oh and sli is fairly pointless giving little benefit and crossfire is even worse, crossfire seems to actually lower performance.

i52500k @ 4.5GHz and unlocked 6950. Playing at 1900x1200 everything on ultra/max, skyrim HD mod, better bodies, faces, high res map, realistic water, better clothes, etc.
i think the core speed rather than the number if there are more than 2 makes more of a difference.
Plays abosoultely fine, no slow down or anything.

An Athlon II X3 at around 4GHZ will run Skyrim fine at 1920X1080 on the highest settings with medium levels of AA and AF:

got a 5850 here with i5 750 processor. it looks and runs fine on high. i am thinking i should upgrade my card though to get the most out of the game. any recommendations would be great, don't want to pay silly money though.

I've got an i7 860 and a 560ti, I haven't messed all that much with setting but its running 1920x1080 and everything is on high. I've only had one random crash and a bit of slowdown when first entering Riften but thats about it.

Re: Skyrim max settings on an i7.

i7 860 @ 3.8 and a gtx460 with a 100 mhz oc. I have all of the ingame settings on ultra except shadows at 1080.
I'm running shadows on low. Performance is great dont have any issues at all.

I've not messed about with the config file or ran any mods.

Make sure you apply the beta patch through steam, it improves CPU performance in and around major city areas in skyrim, in some places I get an extra 20-30 FPS.
