What games is my PC capable of?

I am running a 2100t processor with onboard graphics, 8 gigs of RAM with a fast Samsung SSD in a H67 board. Have been out of gaming for ages but want to do something with this HTPC. Any ideas? My preferences are for first person shooters, strategy, motorbike racing and flight sim.

    THanks

I used to play Solider of Fortune online - is that still active? I know that would run on the PC for sure. Also, is there a modern day equivilent to Rainbow Six? I loved that!

Got a strange result for COD4. It says my video card doesnt meet the requirements, but theoretically it does:

    Video Card
Minimum: 128MB 3d Hardware Accelerated card required-100% DirectX 9.0c compatible and latest drivers (NVIDIA GeForce 6600+ / ATI Radeon 9800 Pro+)
You Have: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Upgrade Suggested: Unfortunately, your Video Card does not meet this requirement. Click here to see some recommendations.
Click here for the latest Video drivers.
Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card
    Required You Have
Video RAM 128 MB 1.7 GB
    3D Yes Yes
    Hardware T&L Yes Yes
    Pixel Shader version 2.0 4.1
    Vertex Shader version 2.0 4.1

Is is because it is onboard?

Its the onboard graphics that are letting you down. You could invest in a silent graphics card for that system for gaming purposes. Something like the Geforce 550ti would do ok for gaming at about 1280x720 resolution and medium to high settings

With the Intel onboard graphics you will be looking at older titles.

Does the game say that or is it the website saying that the card doesn't meet spec.

The HD2000 IGP in my Core i3 2100 could play L4D and UT3 at medium details at 1280X800 fine.

What case and PSU do you have?? Do you have a budget for a graphics card??

Bear in mind that when alot of people (including on this forum) talk about 'being able to play game x', the unspoken last part of that sentance is often about being able to do so with various nice visual effects, high resolution, etc etc.

You will probably find that you can actually play nearly any game, but whether it's aesthetically pleasing or not is the key part.

One thought - I have a 37" Plasma TV, floor standing speakers, and a Blu-Ray player. 1979's "Alien" looks and sounds brilliant on it, and i'm very happy.... yet i remember also watching this film on a 14" portable black and white tv with mono sound many years ago. I'm not saying they they gave me the same experience, but the content of the film (and the shivers down my spine) was the same.

Be wary of people who express that game x "has to be played" at a minimum resolution of whatever or else it's not worth playing...
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

Re: What games is my PC capable of?

Actually not all onboard graphics can play games... my geforce onboard can just about run Battlefield 2, obviously at low lol.

That was the days I was using a small monitor and a ball mouse

.. But to the post, COD4 is actually very easy to run, so in terms of quality a lot of video cards can run it. Obviously depends on your resolution, but my old 8600GT did it it is the newer games that are hard to run, you could pick up a cheapo ATI card on eBay for nothing and it'll run COD4 and any other games (obviously depends on what graphics card, people here will suggest a cheap one).

Unless you will be playing some big titles on a large monitor I am sure someone could suggest a nice little graphics card to play them. Seen as your onboard should deal with them fine.

My 8600GT cost me £15 before. Was well worth it at the time for the games I was running.

Any game should run on Windows, there are so many unofficial patches out there to get games to run on Windows 7. And usually most games I have ran on Windows 7 worked fine (As long as you click compatibility and check Run As Windows xp or lower).

blitzkrieg still runs for me on Windows 7 as Windows 98, so I assume them games you talk about should.

Re: What games is my PC capable of?

Did I mention that the system is totally passive and completely silent? No active cooling at all. So I don't really want to, nor can I fit, putting a graphics card in it
