    What fps for bf3?

Hi, I have a intel q9550 and looking for a decent graphics card, thinking for the GTX 570 or GTZ 580, does anyone have this setup and if so what FPS can i expect?

depends on the settings you use & your screen resolution, not really helping matters when you don't say what res you will be playing at.

anyway with that CPU the video card will be a waste of money due to the bottleneck the cpu and motherboard limits will impose on it.

Bottleneck is a factor i'm considering, i am also thinking of building a new PC when the new intel CPU's come out later this year. For the time being a new GPU should do the job, until I build a new PC and move the GPU to the new build.

At the moment the res is 1680 x 1050, but also looking to upgrade my display to a 1080p screen with 120mhz screen, so would want decent fps to make use of the screen.

you would need an i7 and a pair of those cards then.

At that resolution, you would easy get over enough FPS to not care about it.

    Re: What fps for bf3?

I don't think a Q9550 would be a noticeable bottleneck to either of the mentioned cards. Especially not if he has it overclocked.

I was running a Q6600 @ 3.6GHz with my GTX580, before I upgraded, and there's not a great deal of difference in BF3 tbh, I got about 50FPS in BF3 with the same settings on both machines (Same card).

Now that I've upgraded I see 55-60FPS with the following settings:
Ultra on all of the selectables, 0x AA, FXAA high, 8x AF.

2048x1152 btw, which is 50k pixels different from 1920x1200.

I reckon you should consider waiting to see what happens with GFX cards in the next couple of months, AMD have just released their flagship 7970 and there'll be more on the way.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think the q6600 is a good indication of what I can reach with my CPU, will probably hold out for the next gen of cards coming out this year

I wouldn't have thought so. Look at my specs (i5 2500k and a 560Ti), I run the game at 1920*1080 with high settings, can use ultra on non-64 player server but most of the time forget to switch.
