easy - register, then place a bid (the highest amount you'd be willing to pay). eBay then bids on your behalf up to that point
Well im registered but do i keep bidding everytime i see a new bid? or do i leave it till the last minutes and then bid (which is what my father tends to do ) am i best to leave it and not bid at all and then bid just before it closesOriginally Posted by MA_Moby
I REALLY want to get these items

in my experience of bidding it's best to be there for the closing minutes, just in case someone outbids you by 1p or something (bloomin' annoying). Though if you don't want to get carried away (as I do) it's better to work out the most you feel it is worth paying placing the bid, and leaving it at that - otherwise the old auction fever grabs hold of the brow

Thankyou for the advice i will speak to my dad tonight and see if he will keep an eye on it for me..... this is open till sunday so i should be ok hopefully :fingers and toes crossed:Originally Posted by MA_Moby

what you can do Lynni is put in the most dough you are happy to pay.
The EBAY system will up your bid by a small increment. Then if anyone else bids, but fails to out bid your price, your bid will be raised autoamtically to just pip theirs to the post...
but the same rules apply...someone else MIGHT already have put in a large bid....so if you went in at what you thought was high, it would shot straight up to the one just above yours. You would then have to reconsider your need for this product.

Auctions are great things....you are blind..the other people are blind...if you feel brave...put i a high one....if someone else bids a little, you will still sohw as winning...they might give up and go away...
BUT...all the people who bid on it will get emails if they are outbid...and the nearer it gets to the end, the more likely people are to bid again cos they just either A: dont wanna lose it ...or B: dont want to wait for another auction of 7 days to try and win again.
HENCE the last minute rush.
Its a good game...but can be costly.
I set all my auctions to finish on either a Fri or Sat night...about 10 ish....when lonely people are home, a bit drunk, and feeling generous
Sair knows about EBAY...she OWNS EBAY

Make the seller a 'buy it now' offer?
Depends if you reckon you can trust the guy...
I'd quite like 'em too... Zak has got me started on collecting old manuals etc.
Only problem is, if I bid on 'em I'd end up vasectomised much sooner than the doctor's referal note says I should be...
i've no idea of their true value. I guess the answer is as much as people are willing to payOriginally Posted by Skii
i bought them for not much at all as part of a job lot of old papers in a general auction. It was a bunch of flakey Evening Standards from WWII, these pamphlets, leaflets air dropped after D-Day, the bombing maps I mentioned earlier, dodgy anti-semetic and anti-communist political leaflets, and an Order of Battle for a Bleheim mission. It had all belonged to a former Sergeant Pilot on Blenheims, called (bizarrely) SGT Major.
I've kept some, am selling some, and am donating some to a tiny museum at Little Massingham, where he was based.

i tried that and the seller didnt reply to my pmOriginally Posted by Deckard
