Reasons to NEVER let Deckard near an Aircraft Museum

Introducing.......the Hawker Tempest MkV.......late WW2 and by all accounts a damn fast aircraft.

Shame building it is not so damn fast

So I roped Sair into the job and we aimed for this Bank Holiday Weekend.......but...as anyone who has flown with me knows.....my aim is carp!

Here goes......

Plan view.....I remember this from being a kid, helping my Dad build planes.....rub a candle all over the plans...stops the glue sticking.....and then you lift it off half way through!




then make sure you get your other half to spend some time on her knees!

Next....get the hlaf formers on.....then the stringers...then turn it....and repeat.



it is at this point I would like Deckard to remember just how much I hate him



cos up to now has taken over a day....! Glue drying, piece cutting etc!

It was only the thin lipped, frosty iced silence from Mrs. Deck in the front seat that prompted you to offer to take it home and do it! I was all for building it!

Ahh well, looks like you're doing a great job though. Sair's even SMILING whilst whittling the balsa..... must've been a picture from VERY early on in the project!

when it comes to doping the tissue on the wings you gotta be VERY VERY careful m8.

Put the tissue on one side only, and then pin it down securely so it can't warp when the dope dries and stretches it taught.
