How do I brighten the cocpit display panels?

Is there any way to adjust the brightness level in the cocpit or to illuminate the gages to make the gages more readable? They are readable but certainly not optimum for combat situations.

All of my settings are by default from the Forgotten Battles programming. I have a pretty good computer. Pentium4 1.9 GHz, and a 17" 1600x1200 (not quite sure about these numbers) monitor. The default settings look appropriate.

Cntrol L is Dash lights I think...or is it Shift L....?

    Either way..it doesnt help

The ONLY way to see them properly is to use a Zoom view and then use your mouse to look down at them individually...

    its blummin hard.

What readings are you after? Fuel ? Temp?Revs?

To make all of the gages in view easily readable would be nice. Speed, altitude, and some other parameter are digitally displayed on the lower left hand corner of my screen. If you know how to add more readings i.e. eng temp, rpm, etc...to the digital display please let me know. Thanks. I'm a newbie with not a lot of time to spend exploring the program.

Someone should tell Oleg about gage readability.

His flight sim program is spectacular and has such great content and so much going-on in it and now only to find out that the cockpit display is pretty much un-readable. Correct this and the whole flight sim experience can be enhanced.

TiG's right ....but only in the context of SCALE....ie on a REAL plane, you'd be able to glance down and see themn as quite big....

on a screen, they are a fraction of the real life size AND you cant see them out of the corner of your eye...

BUT they are accurately modelled...and look right....just well 'ard to read

At first I thought that FB/AEP is sacrificing readability for the sake of being more true to realism, to simulate the same constraints that pilots have when flying, but if that's the case why is there the option to make the whole cocpit go away and be left with a clear panoramic view all around...totally free of all visual constraints. Sure it's nice but that isn't realism. I hope you can't use that option when on-line multi-playing, but if this is going to be true to actual combat flying, submit us to the constraints of our respective machines in performance... and ergonomic factors!
    I wan't my gages.
    Please field your responses. thanks

well the only guages that you need are things like fuel, engine temperature and things like that, i've never ever had time to look at them except in normal flight to target, during combat you've got no chance to look at them but you don't need it then.

The zoom thing and looking down is quite adequate to my requirements, i doubt you would be able to see the dials at the bottom of the console without moving about in the cockpit.

I think they've done a reasonable job at the balance myself. I mean if you really want to make it realistic sitting in a confinded space, full pedals and track IR would be needed to fully simulate things closer to the real environment.

    turn all that off.....that cheating

Seriously tho....you SHOULD FLY THIS GAME WITH EXTERNALS OFF AND ONLY SPEED BAR ACTIVE... (thats the stuff bottom left for speed, alt and heading)

EVERYTHING ELSE SHOULD BE FULL REAL......

If everyone else on the same server is flying it like that....you're living

Thats what VEF /VWF is all about.....full real with speed bar.

No padlock.....just your use of hatswitch or mouse .
Individual engine starts for bombers.....mixture, prop pitch, super chargers...

    ALL REAL.

    God I;m excited now
