You wont get it, preorder and prepurchase is different... prepurchase would be sent to you via post or email(if bought from a digital distributor like green man gaming or ncsoft directly),pre purchase requires you to fork up the cash immediately hence different from preorder and it caught me off guard as i was only putting a preorder with amazon but didnt notice the difference . As its a preorder you get one day early access to the retail release but nothing else.

After playing for a bit im impressed with the quality so far, wasnt expecting it to be amazing tbh, however the performance has peed me off its hurting to say the least... 30FPS on low with a gtx460 and an i5 2500k @4ghz, my system isnt that strong but its no slouch either, the graphics are up there with mmorpgs but i would like better, and at the current level of performance it should be crysis graphics!. Hopefully that gets fixed soon though as its only a beta .

Yeah, apparently the beta is heavily CPU biased, and full GPU rendering will be added later on.

I was disappointed that I missed the beta event (studying taking up all my time), but since the events are all concentrated at specific weekends it seems that the experience wasn't super playable for many people with lag or the bad performance. Not to bitter than I missed out now, just hope that the game actually launches before the next year of university begins, lol.

Yup just having a look now, pitiful... now my gpu still seems to be hitting almost 100% usage 99% of the time but i checked in task manager and core 0 was at 95% and the rest were 5%! Clearly only working on a single core which is pretty dire, i hope this really isnt hard to fix but i have a feeling it is .

Pfft, it's £50 to pre-purchase... They can get stuffed if they think I'm paying an extra £15 just to get entry into the Beta!

amazon and play is £40, makes it a touch better .. im not fussed really as i know i will play this as a few mates love it and the original gw so we have a group ready and i can actually play this as it requires no monthly fee so i dont mind not playing it all the time .

I agree though £50 was a piss taker and only £40 was barely acceptable to me

    Re: Guild Wars 2

I'll probably just end up waiting for actual launch where it'll hopefully not be more than 30£. Don't have time to take advantage of the beta weekends and apparently they aren't that playable anyway Game looks fun though.

    Re: Guild Wars 2

It is a bit worrying to hear that its hammering hardware and not fully utilizing multi-cores. I'm sure they will have everything up and running correctly, hence Beta testing to iron out most of the bugs.

I guess by the time I will get around to playing it it should be up to scratch. Though sadly I'll only probably realistically be able to seriously get into the game after I hand in my dissertation in September. Education going and getting in the way of MMOs -_-

Hopefully I'll not be to far behind when I eventually get around to getting it.

    Re: Guild Wars 2

Pretty much ALL beta's are several versions behind what they are currently working on, I wouldn't worry about major issues like that, I very much doubt they would release it like that.

Any links to those? I can see it on Amazon for £48 and Play for £141(!)...

How can £50 be a piss taker when you are happy to pay £30 plus £10 a month for other typical MMO's like star wars etc etc?

£50 and no monthly fee's for gw2. how is that a rip off lol

Perceived initial outlay vs the human mind going, oh its only a tenner a month. (Only 3 pints or so)

For £50 you could get a fair bit of RAM or before the HDD situation a 2T Barracuda or a decent CPU Air cooler. Even though WoW is a bit old, you could get the game and 2 of the expansions if you look carefully enough.

At least that is my thoughts on the matter. But you are correct it does not make sense going "oh 50 is a lot but I'll pay 30 and then a tenner a month".

Depending on if there are adverts or some other way to recoup game development and running costs 50 is not a bad price at all. It would just be nice if it was cheaper, always would be nice if everything was cheaper

    Re: Guild Wars 2

Hi. I played the beta over the weekend with two chars. One was a male Mesmer (level 6) and the other was a female Human Elementalist (level 10). Below are pros and cons of the game so far

    Cons:

    • General Performance (On a build up area/city or a large battle, frame rates are poor. I’m seeing as low as 10fps with both my cup and GPU on idle and hardly being used).
    • Game Breaker bug (If you are in a WvWvW battleground map and get DC, you CANNOT log back in as you get an error saying the map is full! This will happen to any place where the map u was playing is a highly populated map but Arena Net are aware of this as they responded to my forum post about it)
    • WvWvW battleground que(i manage to get in once early on Saturday and then got kicked out and lost my character, see previous con. After trying to get back in battlegrounds on a new char, the que was too long.)
    • Login (As some people may have been aware, the login system was very very flaky. I manage to login fine an hour before official green light of the beta but after that I could not login at all on Friday night. Saturday Morning it was fine but then later tried Saturday evening and didn’t work. Throughout Sunday it was fine though but I hope they fix it permanently. I can deal with que’s on certain servers but logging in? That needs to be sorted.)

    Pros:

    • Best Graphics and art style in any game I have played (dynamic weather, night and day, fog!!).
    • Fantastic World designs (Just go and take a look at videos of Lions Arche. I was speechless when I saw this place!).
    • Great Combat (More dynamic then many other mmo’s I have played and even better then skyrim).
    • WvWvW(I can see myself spending weeks just playing this game mode. Literally 10000’s of people battling it out across a gigantic game world with the ability to get supplies and build various defensive weapons to defend your castle/base. A level 1 can participate! This is because everyone’s health and damage abilities are level 80 but you can only use the skills/weapons you have unlocked yourself).
    • Dynamic Events (This is fantastic. No more of the old quest type system found on basically every mmo you play nowadays! Dynamic events happen randomly in various places in the world. I spent hours just doing them! )
    • Story mode (Story mode is instance based. It is basically a personally story mode where u go to a particular place and load up the instance. The story mode is brilliant from the small bit I played. Finally a MMO that has a compelling story mode that’s similar to a typical single player RPG game. I did a few last nights but did not want to do a lot to ruin the experience when final game comes out.)

As you can see I really enjoy this game. Elementalist is a fun class. Lots of abilities and Mesmer is not bad too. For next beta I will try two different classes again and see how it goes. I cannot wait for this game to be out but from my experience so far, this game is maybe 2-3months away from release IMO as there is a few things that need to be ironed out as noted on my Cons. One being a game breaker.

Well that's me sold, though sounds like I'll need a hardware refresh. I only did the story based elements on the first one and was happy enough.

Can't wait for guild wars 2 especially with all the positive comments from beta testers. Does anyone know how much it will cost when released?

You can pre-order at the moment for £35-£50 from various retailers. GAME is the cheapest at the moment I believe.

£50 and no monthly fee's for gw2. how is that a rip off lol
I still think its a piss taker... i dont play P2P mmorpgs, i dislike the £x a month idea but £50 for a pc game is still HORRIBLE imo. Its an excellent game dont get me wrong but i still have trouble spending £50 on a game but i managed to put up £40 for it so it shows that its a good game to me as the most expensive game i bought for pc was Starcraft 2 for £30 .

Its a bargain compared to P2P mmorpgs but i still just think it is a touch to much as initial outlay is important to me . @Allen it was a few days before the beta event started, it seems they have now gone up in price and game is the cheapest on preorder(not prepurchase).

Just to end it, i simply dont like putting up alot of money (£50) for something i dont know is good or bad, after playing the beta i can see i will enjoy this alot and if it never dropped i would 99% most likely get it for £50 but im always trying to minimise the costs of my gaming so was happy at £40 after .
