Re: Counter strike source / CS: GO
I was fortunate to be able to grab a few keys from Eurogamer last year and there's been a lot of updates since the closed beta started especially in the last few months as the game is supposed to come out this summer.
Being a veteran CS:S player, I think GO is different but not necessarily in a bad way as they're trying to appeal to the 1.6 and Source communities.
It was definitely wise of Valve to take feedback from the top professional players to balance the game accordingly.
All of the popular maps are there albeit with some minor to drastic changes and some new ones too.
Also they've incorporated the Gun Game mod as an official mode called Arsenal which is fun as there a lot of new guns especially shotguns.
For me it's a relief they've decided to remove cross platform play because it means faster updates and less consolitis for PC gamers.
The only main issue I have with the game really is getting used to the new recoil and weapon spread patterns.
