In fairness to blizzard perhaps the sheer number of login requests is simply too much for their infrastructure regardless of the amount of forethought they've put into their preparations.
So...has anyone played it yet :D or too busy playing I bet?
Im in, working fine now :)
how many gaming servers are up to 2 million + login`s at the same time - its alot better than on the open `beta` test.
Could anyone swing me a guest pass til mine arrives? I'm living in Australia at the mo! Walking home and almost installed remotely :D
That's poor. If they know how many people are going to try and log in, then why wouldn't they scale up appropriately?
Two main reasons are:
1) Piracy means more people logging in than expected. This has happened for lots of games, but AFAIK isn't a major issue for D3 yet, so I'd discount it.
2) They're server hiring for near-peak loads, not peak loads, so they don't waste as much money when load drops off. This is more likely, and it's a shame given how much D3 should hopefully be netting them in revenue. But they're not a charity.
or they actually sold more than the `best` projections so the server capacity is allready above what was best projected - the latest motd says they are working on more capacity
well that was the whole point of opening up the beta for that weekend, to see what loads they would expect and its pretty simple to be them both together... oh the beta was hammered, and we have sold millions of D3 copies digital and physical, lets upgrade the server...
No game today, well done amazon.
If anyone wants to give away a spare guest pass, may i call dibs :D.
The first two people to PM me, can have a Diablo III Guest Pass each :)
EDIT: Both gone
i bet you was swamped with PM after that post... hope mine was top haha.
