i use it more as a resource about location of your local exchange rather than buying broadband ; bt are *slowly* rolling out FTTC so you should get a speed bump at some point
oh 2meg? thought you were on a slow 512k like my parents.... 2 meg isnt that slow you know
I just tried the D3 starter edition and it was fun!! Perhaps,I need to try D2 at some point.
I thought you lived in the US??
2MB should be OK as I my lovely Sky connection is that, but ping is more important and TBH,with the Sky connection it is not that bad it seems for ping.
Now now people, such behaviour does not a pleasant forum make.
Can I ask if anyone else is having apparent framerate problems?
I can't seem to work out if it's just plain old lag, or a driver issue or something, but my machine (Radeon 6850, Core i5, 16GB RAM) is certainly not giving a smooth experience when i'm in an outside environment. From purely my own eyes, i'd guess i'm getting around 20 fps. As I say, either that or the lag is so bad it just looks that way.
Maybe it's drivers? I am using 'Virtu' but i'm sure that it is switching ok to the Radeon (i have a little green pop up in the corner to indicate this).
Is it just me?
I'm hoping it was said ironically in order to match the irony of my own post ;) If it was serious then he just needs to watch the video :p
Afraid I can't give much of a comparison - it's silky smooth on a 7870 with all the settings+IQ up, but that doesn't tell you much. What is your ping? Maybe something in the virtu settings that's doing this, especially if you're using the v-sync mode.Quote:

CTRL+R shows frame rate so you can check.
Hmm, this is going to take some unpicking.
With all settings to max, I am getting variable frame rates but in the region of 15 fps up to 24 fps, but mostly under 20.
With all settings to minimum, i get a very steady 16 fps with nearly no change.
Going in to the 'Virtu' control panel there are basically no options, other than to add a game.
The Radeon Catalyst Control Center has long-since perplexed me, I have no idea how to affect any changes within that.
Any ideas anyone?
Have you tried turning virtu off? just run it purely on the 6850 see what happens also in reverse, take the 6850 out and run it off the onchip gpu
Ping and contention issues can be major issues not just your megs
Also software side, firewall or over zealous antivirus can cause giant hassles with any online game (doesn't matter how fats your internets are when the AV is holding up every packet in and out to scan it)
Pretty sure I'm a bit late, but if anyone has a spare guest key they wouldn't mind sharing I'd greatly appreciate it.
Watching youtube and the live streams can only get you so far - payday couldn't come quick enough!
You missed my point totally.
Simple logical approach, test and observe, before drawing conclusions.
If when running on the onboard only he still gets 15fps at minimum settings and gets far higher results when running on the 6850 only, then the probable fault would lie with "Virtu" running off the onboard when it shouldn't be.

Regarding framerates, with the starter edition I get between 95FPS to 100FPS, with an HD5850 1GB at 1680X1050 with maximum settings. The CPU is a Core i3 2100.
