I loved Destructon Derby and the Carmageddon games - just my style of "racing" games ;)
They are aiming to hit a $400,000 target for pledges to enable this, with 18 days left:

I actually worked for both the "Evil" publishers (SCi (PC) & Virgin interactive/interplay (Console ports)) but not when the original came out.
It deeply saddens me that this hasn't already made it's target. It's Carmageddon, what is wrong with everyone, donate £10 ($15) now! It means you'll have a re-make of an absolute classic for £9.60!
Deffinately going to donate a few bucks...
