Wanted to share this with you guys, my Grandfather is Pvt A L Howe in this clipping, what stuns me is this is one clipping from a 4 year war. How may acts of bravery from both sides must have gone unnoticed? How did they let it happen again in 1939??

and I would take it as a priviledge to second that.
S! Mr Howe....to see lewis gun get hit, throwing countrymen around like rag dolls, and to then hurl yourself into it and reload is quite the scariest image I have felt for a long time.
I have goosebumps at the thought....the cold, the rain and mud, the intense heat of summer, the sheer scale of the carnage.
right forum my friend. Gone all cold inside now...
and the pencil marks, showing what the reciever should read.....the arrow and the crosses. And the writing. Feel a bit sad now.

The amazing thing is that this is just men from one part of the UK in a fairly short period of time. Just goes to show how intense the fighting was for the whole 4 years.
I often wonder if the current generation could be taken away from its PS2 and TV and expected to be as brave for their country.
