Max Payne 3 - Out Tomorrow!

I'm not sure if the look of the new game appeals to me like the previous two - I always liked the dark gritty city setting but I'm really interested in seeing how they continue the story and if nothing else kicking ass in bullet time! Is anyone else thinking about getting reacquainted with Max?

I would definitely get a copy. And I'm freaking ready to welcome Max back home! I've read mostly positive reviews, so, I know this will definitely kick some ass again. Bullet time FTW!

I'm 2 hours in and it's pretty intense so far - Really liking the way they've implemented the bullet time and killing feels worryingly satisfying...

having fun so far but the guy who has done all their visual bling when it goes into a cutscene really should of toned down all the pointless flashy effects, it's supposed to be a gritty story not a disco!

Re: Max Payne 3 - Out Tomorrow!

Yeah, good game. Very impressed, but like a lot of other people said, the cut-scenes could really do without all the "Max is real messed up" visual effects. Graphics are otherwise very slick, and the gameplay is great.

The surround sound seems really messed up though... I've got the sound going from my PC to an Onkyo receive via an optical cable, and in the cutscenes I can barely hear the characters speaking. Max's voiceover and the general music/ambience is fine, but centre-stage voices that are supposed to come out of the centre speaker are just inaudible. I've tried switching between surround-rear and surround-side, but it makes little difference. I don't understand how they could mess this up really... surely 5.1 surround is a totally solved problem these days?! My setup works absolutely fine in many other games.

Guess I'll try sending the sound to the receiver via an HDMI cable or some such...

Re: Max Payne 3 - Out Tomorrow!

I thought it was a good game overall, graphics and gameplay, I thought the cut scenes got a bit too much.

I did encounter a view bugs, such as when doing the bullet dodge stuff max vanished and I couldnt bring him back yet the game carried on playing fine.
