    No, none at all.
A company can't simply issue a disclaimer and overwrite the law of the land.

The article is very clear about what they are investigating:

The Korean Fair Trade Commission raided the studio's Seoul office to gather evidence as to whether or not Blizzard violated the country's law.
Blizzard can put what they want in the T&C. If they violate the laws of the land, they're going to get in trouble.

Companies like to think they can make the rules and lay down their own law and most people won't stand up to them but a lot of the time if you do your homework and throw the law at them, they have no choice but to own up

Like for instance, companies put signs up in their car parks saying they take no responsibility but if I'm not mistaken they still have a legal responsibility to keep you safe

    Re: Blizzard raided by police!

I don't think anything will come of this. The whole digital media industry has become so rich and powerful that they can do whatever they want to. There aren't many industries that can dictate the introduction of new laws as has happened in the USA and Europe. Gamers have very few rights, and don't have the money to seek any redress with the few they do have. Agreeing with impenetrable EULAs makes no difference. Having a legal department does. It's all because of the pirates, apparently. I can't think of a better reason to resort to piracy, but everyone is too scared to discuss that. Lawyers are expensive.
For now though, I'm sticking with the games I bought before this ridiculous situation was allowed to arise. Modern gaming isn't fun.

    Huh?

If you bought it from a shop then the DSR doesn't apply.

    Re: Blizzard raided by police!

Yeah but it wasn't like this 15 years ago, you could return it at Game no questions asked, even though it was an Online game, same at HMV. They must have realised people were ripping off the CD keys and pirating them. Not exactly DSR, but people were saying the game wasn't working on their PC or some other excuse

    Re: Blizzard raided by police!

I don't know if EULAs have changed much but they would often say to return the package for a refund if you didn't agree. I suppose that this particular clause has been removed of late.

Still present in Diablo 3 at least - you have 30 days to reject the EULA. Of course, accepting the EULA to install the game means you aren't rejecting it So there's no evaluation like there may be with DSR.

I'm on the fence with this. Being devils advocate....

With modern games the 'I played it and didn't like it' isn't totally fair IMO. There are countless previews, reviews, forums, YouTube videos, podcasts, BETAS, usually demos, screen shots, walkthroughs and then word of mouth.

Its hardly as if you buy a game not knowing what to expect?

You do have the right to a refund if it's not as commonly understood to be advertised and that's due to the game, not your end.
