So what type of games do people install on their SSD? Or what sort works best on them?
I have BFBF2, BF3 and L4D2 on mine, what else should I put?
I have tons on my other drive installed.

Whatever you play most often and/or benefits from quick map loads.
I have Shift 2, The Witcher 2, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3.
Shift 2 and Starcraft 2 both have quite lengthy load times while they put everything for the level/track into RAM, so the SSD speeds that up significantly. TW2 and Diablo 3 both do a lot of streaming as you load up chunks of the game at a time, so the SSD makes them play much more smoothly.
Whatever you install on a SSD, will run faster.
I use mine as a boot drive and windows functions a lot better.
Any game you install will run faster.
Sent from somewhere other than my PC.
BF3/BC2 will see massive gains from the SSD.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
There is gains for sure for BF3 on the SSD, Going Hunting loaded pretty fast in under 10 or so seconds. BFBC2 there wasn't much gain over my F3 1TB, I think it's slightly faster but not by much to be honest.
L4D2 there wasn't much a difference, it's faster still but not as fast as you think it should be. Alan Wake loads pretty fast, am happy with that. I also got Space Marine loaded on it, but haven't tested that yet.
I hear that SSD's are great for RTS type of games, but haven't got any loaded yet.
all my games are on SSD, i got a 256gb M4 for games. normally one of the 1st on the map, in a tank and capped 2 flags before some of my clan join.

off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
i have installed on my sdd i have steam and origin BF3 BFBC2 MW3 MW2 COD4
I generally install everything onto my hard drive, then use Steam Mover to just move the couple of games I am actively the playing the most at any given time onto my SSD. Works great as long as you don't mind waiting every once in a while while things move back and forth between drives
Any MMORPGs
I don't install any games on my SSD, that is used just for Windows itself.
The main reason is that after the first time a game reads masses of data in from disk, the file sections are resident in the system cache and if that cache is memory-resident (I have 12GB RAM, so this is likely) then there is zero disk I/O anyway.
So long as I make Windows sleep & resume instead of shutting down & restarting, the cache contents remain intact - so the only time I notice any delays waiting for disk I/O is on the first launch following a restart.

~ I have CDO. It's like OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. ~
PC: Win10 x64 | Asus Maximus VIII | Core i7-6700K | 16GB DDR3 | 2x250GB SSD | 500GB SSD | 2TB SATA-300 | GeForce GTX1080
Camera: Canon 60D | Sigma 10-20/4.0-5.6 | Canon 100/2.8 | Tamron 18-270/3.5-6.3
As said - anything with big load times. People say that hdd's have no affect on framerates but I'm thinking that maybe they could in a game with a big streaming world. Something like Arma might see benefits in that way. I really don't know though but it could be worth a try if you have any games like that...
I've been wondering how long I'll be able to survive on a 128GB SSD. My budget has become so tight that it's between a copy of windows or a 500GB HDD, so I think I'll have to sacrifice the latter for a month or so. Sadly, I think that means my soon to be new PC will only be able to try out indie games and two 'lookers' at most![]()
