And remember to spray it Trig![]()
and then go back over it with a brush dipped in aluminium, matt black and matt khaki to weather it in.... oh and a mix of brown with a touch of matt pillar box red for rust effects....
Of course, as you know, a brush dipped in any of these, then well wrung out will give a good scuffing effect, but go over with aluminium first to give a worn paint effect, then touch up with primer, (I use 93 Matt Beige Green as I'm sure you do yourself), to give a worn through to the primer look... then go about weathering in with oil and mud etc. Generally, I don't rust planes a huge amount as they were mainly aluminium, though water marks are fine.... for those mkae a VERY weak matt black solution and actually drip it from a pippete or children's medicine syringe.... let it run as it may and dab any excess off with kitchen roll.
Of course, Skii is gonna kick in here with his method.... which'd be nice....
heheh, how old are you guys?![]()
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
Trig is 4
I am 5 and three quarters.
Deck is 6 but thinks he's a big boy now.
Skii ...well, we're not sure about Skii....PROBABLY 10, but sometimes about 5 like me.
Why Yamangman....? Would you like to play in our sandpit?

This Vb is the biggest thing I've built ever (apart from a C20XE)...
It'll take me a while but the general idea is to build it as a replica of my plane in AEP....

Totally the wrong one but it was an impulse buy, wanted an IXe really but hey, I'll paint this one and then if I'm as good as I used to be then I mite buy another one...

Never too old to make a decent modelOriginally Posted by yamangman
As far as mmy advice to Trig goes, first and foremost if you are making a model, expecially a big model like a 1/24
Spit you will need to spray those colours, Humbrol do a good little inexpensive airbrush kit for about a tenner which just clamps onto an aerosol propellant can and you just add the paint thinned with 50-75% Enamel thinners. It isn't a precision airbrush but when laying down Spit camo you can easily get away with masking the camo scheme with tape cut to shape or plasticine / blu-tack.
Most essential part of making models is planning - you need to know exactly what you are going to do with each part before you paint it, glue it etc, so take your time.
www.aircraftresourcecenter.com
- have a look at the tools and tips section, and the gallery section shows you what kind of Spit you can end up with if you use a few of the basic techniques on there.
