Radeon Cat 4.7 are VERY VERY good

Already well convinced, but I thought I'd try tweaking the second rig...

    Radeon 9000 128m....not a Pro....not a quick card at all....OEM version.

BUT it runs SUPERBLY on the new 4.7's. Have even tried upping the Landscape Detail to Perfect, and while it obviously stutters a bit, it does manage...

quite remarkable....dunno WHAT ATI did to these but they are HEAVEN in a downloadable package.

So an Athlon 2600 with 512 and an OEM Radeon 9000 runs it very well indeed.

If you havent tried them so far..do

    For the record:

Have just built (yeah..Im bored at work) a basic PC for my mate Rob.

K7S5A (ECS cheapo mobo) with 512 DDR
    Palomino 1900 (Deckards old cpu)
    Radeon 64mb DDR

Thats the ORIGINAL Radeon...ever. My first card from ATI. Its the one before the 8500.

Installed it with the new Cat 4.7's and it showed as a Radeon 7200 64mb ddr

And it plays AEP on 1024x768x32 with everything maxed except Ground Detail which is HIGH.

    And it plays WELL.

These Open GL drivers (suppose they are to help Doom 3 along) are the best news for a long time
