Mine without a doubt was Far Cry - and them monsters as silly as they maybe were nerve racking sometimes!
I also think it was one big leap in graphics and you could almost go anywhere!

I briefly played Farcry 2 but couldnt really get away with it. Went through a phase of Bad Company 2 but got sick of people just jumping around constantly and snipers camping all the time, just not fun at all, even worse when you get abuse hurled at you for constantly getting killed.
Homefront is one of my favourites though, players seem to be a bit more mature and the pace is pretty quick.
Just realised that you mentioned not online play!
So going on that.
Oblivion and all the expansions, over 200 hours to completion. Farcry 2 is currently sitting at around 46 hours and about 78% complete, really need to finish it! Skyrim is currently sitting at nearly 80 hours and not even halfway through the main quest, done the guilds now, just need to become leader of thieves and working through Mages guild. Completely finished Companions and Dark Brotherhood.
Presently clocked up over 12 hours on Divine Divinity, 20 hours on a new playthrough on Oblivion, 13 hours on Civ 5, 9 hours on Tropico 3 (I will crack Pirate Cove scenario! ), 27 hours on Deus EX HR & Missing link, 25 hours on RAGE, 12 hours on Two Worlds 2. So quite a bit on Single Player stuff, not a massive fan of multiplayer in all honesty. I have also clocked up a fair bit on RTS like DoW and C&C
arhgh ha!
not including online play! :-)
I'm only saying that because online gaming is in a way never ending.
single player is where i was going with this. It meant to tell what game you played the most.
oh yes, far cry 2 wasn't as good, to me that is1

think it would be oblivion (and in another year or two) skyrim along with rome:TW & medieveal 2:TW. just logged into steam and 162 hours in skyrim already
far cry 2 was a good game but the biggest problem for me was clearing out enemy checkpoints only to walk 100m away and they spawn back and you'd have to go through it again.
i think a lot of people didn't like the game because it gave the player to much freedom and people are used to having 1 or 2 obvious choices thanks to consoles. the game allowed you to have as much fun as your imagination would allow to a certain extent.
Fallout 3, girlfriends came and left again, but I was still playing Fallout 3.
I found Far Cry 2 somewhat frustrating and repetitive, same for Just Cause 2.
Interstate 76 - played it for hours, I think I've completed it 20 times back in the day !
Solitaire
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.

Metro 2033, fallout 3, all the red factions, skyrim and of course the halo series
The most ever?
Easily Heroes of Might and Magic 3, just solid playing for years... Still love it to bits...
In terms of pure time, would have to be click and grind fest that was diablo 2. Ate up a lot of time at uni in between going out
Definitely Unreal Tournament '99. Been playing it ever since, countless hours with mates on private LAN, single player about 30 times as well, played it yesterday last time - lol!

Deus Ex, it was my first PC game & it blew me away, still play it from time to time
Has to be either GTA: VC or GTA: SA. Zoo Tycoon probably comes close too.
Game I played the most was Tribes 2, 7 years I played that game from start to finish, no other games got a look in really.
These days though I am hopelessly addicted to Binding of Isaac, nearly 190 hours ploughed into it so far xD
