    Any of you got X-Plane?

Is it worth getting? I like the sound of the real-time real-world weather. Does the game map the continents of the entire planet?

Yea, it do look a bit crap, but I heard it has the best flight dynamics of any flight sim ever...

well i could drop and raise the gear while still on the run way, point a jumbo jet up 90degress right after take off without stalling and even hit reverse thrust with little effect

    is that realistic

it doesn't seem that good to me - though there are a lot of settings to play around with

Yeah I tried the demo of it but never really got into it. Graphics are pretty crap but the planes and settings are pretty amazing. As far as I remember you can basically design your own plane from scratch although the number of settings are so confusing you'd want to know your aerodynamics etc fairly well .
Saying that it aint much good if the physics is as bad as Da_ging found.

Well as far as I know X-Plane is regarded by the purists as the best simulator for flight dynamics and accuracy, its old, but its engine is very highly praised, to the extent that it has been purchased by the Fighter Ops team for a new combat flight sim they are working on.

I'm genuinly suprised to hear the flight models are as bad as Da-Ging says, is it possible the flight model settings are not on highest realism ?

i've been playing around with the weather settings - that's lots of fun. And the flight model for the Cessna seems pretty spot on. I like the fact that all the switches that should work in the cockpit do. It's frustrating only being able to look left and right on an even plain and not up and down. Some of the external modelling leaves bit to be desired - it isn't a very pretty sim.

As da-ging says - the planes are able to put their gears up and down at will whilst on the runway. Huh? And they survive the most ridiculous accidents!

Also the people modelling the cockpits and aircraft clearly weren't as obsessed and as anal as Oleg. It's a half finsihed job - an instrument panel and that's it.

But if you turn the res up on the graphics is looks ok-ish. And the moving cars on the roads are kind of cool. Still I won't be rushing out to buy the proper version.
