    Getting Started

Right, some of you may remember a thread I started ages ago when I was still in Oz, regarding getting a decent joystick and a copy of IL2 and getting up in the air!

Well, I'm getting bored with BF1942, DC and the like, so I thought I'd lay out the cash and get some bits.

What do I need, and where is the best place to get it?

Hmmm. Doesn't look like they make the saitek gold any more - would the evo be the logical choice in that case?

No idea about the joysticks mate. I'd try the game first and see if you like it, thats what i'm doing.

Yep the evo is the stick of choice now as far as i can see, better than what i've got, had a quick go at Zak's at the last lan to see how it went and its pretty sweet.

There was also a thread in the last few weeks showing both FB and AEP the games which we play and will need to fly with us, for £20 for both, which is excellent value.

    Hope this helps..

Pretty much and of the Saiteks will do the job, as long as its got twist, hat and at least 4 buttons.
Extras include rudder more buttons etc

If u wanna go big then theres the X45....

PC world are worth checking out as they are a consistently good source of bargain joysticks, they run specials often on some of the more well known sticks. As Tig says I would recommend a Saitek Cyborg Evo, this is a very good stick with lots of lovely programmable buttons, 8-way [hat] switch (this is the button you use with your thumb to 'look' or pan around the cockpit ) and a throttle lever. This should set you back no more than £30-£35 - money very well spent

Cool beans. Anyone got a link for that thread with the game and expansion pack as el cheapo ?

Otherwise, these guys are looking good:

and they do both the game and expansion for around 30 for both...

Nah - Beeenie will force that Bf109 down with a well thought out, cutting and decisive argument in response to its ill thought out and ill-informed initial political statement based on little more than heresay.

Poor buggers won't stand a chance....
