..or the torrent?
Getting it tomorrow, hope it runs with a 9500GT !
It's good. Real good. In addition to buckets of added dialogue, female scientists, and general graphical enhancement, they've even added rooms and puzzles right where they'd fit physically into Black Mesa.
I'd also say it's a bit harder - the jump height/distance are greatly reduced vs HL1
Do you have to have HL1 installed via Steam first?
No need for HL1, just go onto tools (dropdown where it has all games, installed etc) and download Source SDK Base 2007
I believe you have to own a source game for it to be there, something like HL2, Counter Strike Source etc
Once you have that installed download Black Mesa and in steamapps > sourcemods create a folder called BMS and extract it into that and you are ready to go.
I would recommend downloading the torrent from the official Black Mesa site, I have tried getting it from a few other locations via http but the download has gone funny for me and it fails the hashcheck with winrar and 7zip if it does complete.

How do you launch the fecker ?
I've done all the above but it doesn't appear in my games list not can I find an exe.
EDIT: You have to restart Steam...D'Oh

Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
It is now listed in my games. I ran (double clicked) the Source SDK Base 2007 and once it loaded in quit out of it, also ran HL2 then quit out of it. I think you just need to run another source based game first so it gets recognised.
I think you will just need to run the SDK once, it should then be listed at the bottom of your games list
EDIT :
Only issue I am having at the min is finding the crowbar, they have moved it from in front of the door and in that area the flashlight isn't very bright, has to be in that vicinity somewhere though to get further as you need it.
Got the crowbar - can't get out !

I didn't realise that the glass door was actually broken, thought it was just misted at the end of the laser corridor.
Once you get the crowbar you crouch through the wall space on left side of the room, I have just done the bit where you see G Man for the first time and got killed in the tunnel system when you flood it.
Did no-one spot the Chuckle brothers mug? Ace!
You go right where the headcrab zombie is once flooded and at the next junction go left and there is a hole in the ceiling with ladder to get out. In the next section there are 2 doors you can go through but no prompt that they actually open and they look just like scenery.
I'm not looking forward to the bit where you get the revolver and the radioactive pool, I'm nearly at that bit if my mind serves me right, its a really annoying bit in the original.
Got out and I'm in that foyer. How do I get up to the vent ? I can't jump high enough to get onto the blue boxes - even if I roll a barrel over first !

Or possibly Atari.
I am stuck in the corridor with the two lasers as I cannot open the door. Also I could not find any crowbar yet - have I missed it??
Cat thats the door that got me, in the original the crowbar is actually there. The glass is actually broken and not in the door but when you look at it looks like it is just misty, just crouch down and crawl through it to carry on.
Phage, there is a vent behind where the security guy stops, it is lit up red, thats the way you go.
CAT-THE-FIFTH (15-09-2012)
I'm further on in the foyer with the big lift. Locked security room, forklifts and blue crates leading up to a vent but no doors...No security guy ? I'm all alone.

Or possibly Atari.
