Re: Free updated version of Half-Life/Black Mesa [Contains SPOILERS]

A little story from Black Mesa.

Managed to form a little posse with two guards and scientist gal.

Now my posse grows in number!! MOAR fire-POWAR!

Aliens and infected against my posse! FIRE-POWAR wins!

    The mess hall looks a....mess!

On a side tour, meet another scientist gal who stays in the freezer.

I rejoin my posse! We have two new additions!

However, scientist chap cannot jump and now I sadly need to leave my posse!

We could have fought our way to the surface,no problem!! Alas,it was not to be.

Still not found the crowbar! I am at the beginning where I go to the changing rooms after the explosion has happened.

EDIT: Never mind, it was used to wedge doors and you can't miss it as the game will lead you to it.

I have found many bugs. Got dtuck in between automatic doors and couldnt move, dropped into a lil gap created by explosions and couldnt jump out. Manually saving every 10 mins. is recommended!

Re: Free updated version of Half-Life/Black Mesa [Contains SPOILERS]

cat - thats the group i got, although you have 1 more barney. mine must've died or accidentaly got shot by me blasting everything

according to the achievements theres a second path through that level. need to find it, maybe we can rescue them after all?

oilsheikh - yeah there are a few bugs here and there. found a few transparant things too. the barney scientists get stuck in those doors aswell, so just give them a thump and they'll shift out the way. or you can push them into the rooms ahead and let them trigger the enemies so you can run and hide not that i did that or anything

Anyone managed to get the magic hat to Xen?

I found two hats... but couldn't get them through the portals with me - they'd go first and I'd lose them (or drop them), so I just gave up in the end...

didnt see any hats when i played it.

ended up playing all 5 games in a row, black mesa > halflife 2 > lost coast at about the point where theyd cut it > halflife 2 > episode 1 > episode 2.

that was fun, and it was wierd at the same time. talking to my sister berfore, i couldnt remember a single thing from the game, but as i was playing it, it all came flooding back even to the point of where all the hidden sections and easter eggs are.

getting the gnome all the way to white forest was a right 'ol pain, kept falling out the car and the chopper kept banging it off down cliffs. still he got there in the end. was quite useful for squishing all the grubs/larvae in the mines.

im imagining the hats are just as complicated and annoying. theyll be near the start, or just after the core explosion, anywhere else, theres no point having it in the game as an achievement.

itll be a year or more before i play it again though, so ill be no use as to where it is or even which one

Re: Free updated version of Half-Life/Black Mesa [Contains SPOILERS]

There is one hat in the warehouse with all the crates (2nd time you see the ninjas)... someone has posted a (far too long) YouTube video of that one...

There is also one hat on a shelf right before you have to start going through all the portals - or rather, you can see it, but you have to go through the right portal (where you meet the 2 married scientists + barney) and you can get to it from there... I just couldn't get it going through the portals without dropping it. Far too annoying to bother with - especially considering you dont actually get to Xen!

Just replayed from one of my saves... once you've swam through the lambda core, gone up, flicked the switch so all the red lasers go crazy, then gone up the ladder (lift is broken, dead scientist at the bottom) there's a room to the right and you can see the hat --

You're still missing two, halflife opposing forces and halflife Blue shift
Granted they've not been remade yet, I think opposing forces was my favourite, blueshift (where you play Barney, he's the one locked out of a door during the initial train ride intro in halflife.) was rather short but was cool and the funny thing is that of the 3 Barney was the only one to get out safely and intact.

There was also halflife decay but that was PS2 only and co-op only with lots of puzzles (and is part of the inspiration behind portal)

I've got all of them in my 'pic bits' box, I actually installed blue shift and opposing force a week before black Mesa came out

Blue shift 'hi res' models ruined the mp5 though

I also have Gunman Chronicles of anyone remembers that, not the HL universe but used the engine and came in the same sort of jewel case design (it's crap though from memory!)

I didn't play this for long, because me and my friend are playing at the same time and talk about it over skype...its our thing for good games that doesn't have coop mod. Anyway i reached that squid-gepard alien, which i must add looks awesome, and whole game is great, one big Half life "tribute"...just amazing

@pob - silly me, how could i forget them. ill have to borrow opposing force from my sister, dont own blue shift, so that'll have to wait.

@phage - righty then, thats ok.

@streetster - its the hat in the warehouse you need for the achievement, watched a few youtube vids and they all point to that one. suppose you could try that hat in that room see what happens.
