I would love to play BF3 on it because the graphics should be a lot better then ps3.
Just ordered the premium bundle for PC. Finally I'll get to play my favorite game with some decent graphics (as opposed to the low quality ps3 graphics I'm used to in BF3)

I was just wondering if you can use the same image quality from singleplayer in mulitplayer? Most of the reviews online are in singleplayer benchmarks. I'm looking at Ultra settings with some anti-aliasing in full hd. According to the online benchmarks this should be playable with my 3.7Ghz phenom / 7870 OC / 8Gb 1600Mhz. But not sure if I can select the same settings in multiplayer without framedrops...

Use the new AMD Catalyst 12.11 "Never Settle" drivers and you'll be fine. They make a remarkable difference in performance according to the recent driver reviews.

Already have those installed. Made a big difference in the benchmarks I did.

I hope I can do Ultra settings with some form of AA in multiplayer. Got a new monitor too. From hd to full hd :-)
I feel sniping is hard on PS3 due to the low graphics and aliasing. I used to be good at it on PC games (many years ago), but on console it often takes me several bullets for a kill Ofcourse, all the other players have the same quality settins on console. So can't use that as an excuse. But on pc, the ones with better hardware have an advantage.

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

I received the game today and played for an hour. Didn't have time to change the keyboard layout so I used the xbox controller, which didn't give me that big of a handicap as I would have thought. The graphics are a lot better then on PS3. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to max it out in multiplayer, but my pc seems to do just fine. I have everything maxed out in campaign, full hd, Ultra settings and 4x MSAA enabled / 16x AF enabled. In multiplayer I used full hd, Ultra settings and 2x MSAA enabled / 8x AF enabled.
Too bad I had to start as a private again, instead of a colonel

Deffinitely buy. The vehicles add a whole new level of gameplay. Stepping into a map with planes flying in the air piloted by actual players and tank fire everywhee...feels like stepping into a war zone

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

BF3 is fun, had it since launch, I love the sniping component to it, after coming from Counter strike/ COD MW1, It certainly is the best FPS for me. Sniping is so rewarding as you have to kill with a headshot to get a one hit kill. So it flying planes around killing with your machine gun only.

Bare in mind BF4 wont be around for sometime and BF3 is cheap now

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

I actually enjoyed SP was quite fun.

MP has always been the highlight of Battlefield series, very fun. Can be frustrating at first, but once you know the maps its fine.

Graphics - this is why I would love to play it on a 50" TV very nice looking graphics especially up above in a Flanker/Hornet

yeah I agree the single player wasn't too bad apart from when your squad stands still so you have to reload the game ><

mp is definitely where it is at though

As far as I know there are still a stack of DLC packs planned to come out for this and one has only just recently been released. I haven't played in ages but keep meaning to go on and give it another try.

GamesPlanet have BF3 + premium package as a download for £23.99 and the Origin store will be doing "up to" 50% off tomorrow. I believe the time to buy has come.

I do have a question, is the BF3 Premium a DLC package or is it the full game with DLC access?
