Question BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

    HELLO

I've been looking out for a new PC game to try out and whilst going through youtube I stumbled upon the various footage videos of BF3 gameplay. Looks pretty good!

I did see in the comments however that some people don't really get into it because it ends up being too strategic so it's hard to just jump into public games?

I'm desperate for a new PC game though as GW 2 was a bit of a let down for me and I refuse to pay any more money to World of Warcraft!

    Thoughts?

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

For all the failings of Battlefield 3 its still a very good game. They aren't many games were you can so easily jump on teamspeak with a few platoon mates and being having a good time in minutes. Battlefield 3 is very good at being a pick up and play type of game. You don't have to constantly play it to be good. You can keep going away and coming back and its still just as fun

I help admin the Scan.co.uk servers. I recommend checking them out if you do play: Scan.co.uk on Battlelog & http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...s3-server.html on Hexus.

Thumbs up Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

Thanks so much for the quick response!

Yeah I think I've made my mind up to purchase it in the end. I think i'm going to go for the premium bundle? Considering all the stuff you get in the pack it's worth it in my eyes.

Come pay day I'll be picking it up!

Might have to double check my PC spec Is okay for it. Been a while since I've played any demanding games on it.

Once I've got it sorted I'll follow up on your recommendations, thanks again!

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

lol nice a few things that may piss you off are that its not on steam and the game menu is through your internet browser of choice but apart from that you'll love it.
i made a few vids that you may have fun trying but you may have a hard time trying a c4 jeep as everyone knows to run but it will take out a tank easily so have fun

A lot of the games I play aren't on Steam so that won't be a problem!

Aha I'll check them out! Thanks for all the advice!

Can't wait to frag some fools!

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

The graphics is one of my worries. I've been told it's quite demanding on your PC. I went on can you run it.com, said I would be okay on the minimum stuff but some parts didn't make cut.

    :/

Do you play it on PC mattyc89?

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

It is a very good game, but im one of the people who says i can only play it whilst squading up with people i know whilst being on mumble/teamspeak. Gets frustrating not being able to talk to others playing in your squad etc.

Playing online with a dual core might cause you a few problems but battlefield does scale well with different systems

    .....
I won't play anything but TDM if I'm playing solo. Not having a safe point to spawn on (your squad mates) really kills rush and conquest for me.

We are testing auto squad voip using my platoons teamspeak server at the moment on the Scan servers. Close to getting it working now. I *really* want this on this setup on the public Scan teamspeak server but multiplay are not very flexible at all in accommodating our request. Get asked about it every few weeks for 9 months now. Maybe one day....

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

Lost its magic somewhere between release and now thanks to some poor balance changes in patches. But so so many hours of fun were had with it that I can't not recommend it anyway.

Thanks for the TS server by the way firejack in case I haven't said it before, so useful during the BF3 days and again now for Borderlands 2.

Battlefield, despite its flaws is a must-have PC game atm only because of the graphical grunt it has just to test out rigs.

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

I don't game that often anymore, but whenever I do get a chance to game, it's BF3 (on ps3).
I recently upgraded my pc, but haven't had a chance to game on it yet
I would love to play BF3 on it because the graphics should be a lot better then ps3.

No problem, the Scan guys are paying!

If you want a game server for any other games let me know and I'll rely the request. So long as the server is maintained and has an active playerbase. Scan seem happy to support it

Re: BATTLEFIELD 3 - To buy or not to buy?

Hi folks, just to throw my 2 cents in: I'm really having a lot of fun with BF3 now. I've owned it since launch, but have just recently started enjoying it. When I first got it, I jumped right into some multiplayer which is quite a bit different than your typical run and gun shooter. This made it difficult for me to get into it at first, so I left it alone for awhile. Bored one day and looking for a fun game to play, I booted up BF3 again but this time to play the single player campaign. Man did that help me! Playing the campaign helped me understand the mechanics of the game quite a bit better, and gave me a chance to get my controls and cover strategies down. I'm really enjoying the multiplayer now!

If anyone else feels frustrated or a bit lost in the multiplayer, give the single player campaign a whirl. It really helped me out and now I'm hooked on it's strategic multiplayer

    Cheers!
