And you can now pre-order at a ridiculously high price. So much for their 'this is an expansion pack and you can expect to pay expansion pack prices' comment a while back.

We typically don’t provide details about pricing until the game is closer to release. We do view Heart of the Swarm as an expansion set, so for the regions that have a standard box business model such as North America and Europe, we will price accordingly

beta keys are available for GAME pre-orders for those that like that kind of thing. The especially annoying can pre-order, get a beta key, then cancel, just to show them how dumb that idea is

I'm not sure if the price is high. I'm still playing SC2 and it was released more than 2 years ago. If I consider the hours I have spent with it then it was the cheapest game I ever owned.

If the expansion pack delivers then I don't mind paying that much.

As for the other games in the past 3 years, they kept me entertaining for much less time if they were entertaining at all.

I bought SC2 and have played all of about 5 hours on it. I'm just utterly terrible at it and i have no idea why.

Probably, but i was getting pasted in like 20mins. I just felt like everyone else was miles fastrr on it than me. Most RTS i expect to suck for a bit but i just wasn't getting any better on SC2.

How did you do on the campaign? What about the single-player challenges?

You need to ease yourself into the multiplayer or you will get pasted and not really know why.

The base game was reasonably priced, certainly. It's the fact they implied it would be cheaper than the full game because it's only an expansion.. but then break their word.

Hmm, getting through the campaign in 5 hours is pretty good going. I certainly wouldn't attempt multiplayer without going through the campaign and multiplayer tutorials first though. Well, actually I would on the ladder - you'll get thrashed a few times then start being placed with people of similar abilities and be able to have fun

Well if you do fancy giving it another go I'd recommend trying the single players first, and especially the multiplayer primer missions.

I loved the campaign, but I've barely scratched multiplayer. I suck so badly at Starcraft (and RTSs in general) - is there a league below bronze because that's where I'll end up if I ever finish my practice matches!

The thing is the more matches you play the better the computer is able to match you against players of similar ability.

If you are losing keep playing and you will eventually get matched vs people you have a chance of winning against.
Don't worry if you lose the first few matches really badly, this is just because the matching algorithm has no idea how good you are.

The key is simple;

Probes & Pylons

Keep a steady supply of both and you should soon end up with a huge army.
Obviously this would be SCV & Depots for Terran and Drones & Overlords for Zerg!
