    Struggling

This damned X45's not configurable enuf, and if it is I dont know how....

I know what I want the buttons to be but IL2's just not having it, I've tried the profile editor thing but thats no use....

    Anyone good at making profiles?

Maybe I want too much from the stick?

Trig....DONT RING DECKARD....he configures THOUSANDS of things to his joystick.

He can put his kids to bed with a flick of button 56 and a wiggle of the rudder

Mines fully confugured in the profile editor. First up though, you need to do normal keyboard assignment in the game then you bind those keys to buttons and hat positions on the stick. As long as you did the "advanced install" you can also makes any of the hats become mice. I can make a config for you if you want, but it would be better for you to get used to using the editor, as you will find yourself amending and tweaking all the time. It has some strange little annoying bugs and a weird way of defining and labelling binds.

Edit - The axis can be configured straight in the HOTAS section of the game.

Well basically I want the 2 rotational controls to be trims.
The aux will be in the center position most of the time but if I puch it fwd I want that to lift the flaps a stage and in the other position lower them a stage.
I want the mouse fire button to be bound to TS.
Mouse cursor to looking round or maybe the map cursor...

I need to be able to set things and then maybe set them to other controls as things fall on my hand

You wont be able to set the mouse to move the map around, it'll just act as a mouse input and you'll still need to left click to move the map.

I haven't bothered to figure out how to band the rotary buttons yet, there is a way of doing it but as Clingy says, some of the programming is quite quirky and I cba at the moment.

Setting the aux for flaps up and down is no prob, just assign its use as a button, then assign the keypress it reproduces to whatever the IL2 default is (F + V) iirc or whatevre you've have them set to in IL2 now.

Bind the mouse button to whatever button you've assign for PTT in TS and you're done.

The easiest way I've found of doing all this is to re-set IL2 button mappings to default, add in any user defined ones that you need and make a note of them.

Now you can programme away without having to constantly open up IL2 as you can use the keymap card supplied with the game and your own notes to remind you which keypress does what.

The best way to decide what button does what is to fly around and see what feels natural, I try to put stuff I won't use too often on the joystick as I'll be pretty busy wanting to fire and fly with that. That's why I have the view zooms on the throttle, I use em loads and my left hand isnt as busy as my right..... online or in real life!

Because when you exit the game all the buttons are active, the "AUX" slider can give you some annoying problems. So I have it with no binds in mode 1. So when I quit I make sure the mode switch is on 1. I'm only saying this because I couldn't therefore have the AUX switch as flaps. Instead I use it for FOV in all modes except 1. Mode 1 is my take of and landing mode.

    Clear....mmmmm...perhaps not
