Planetside 2 is a CPU limited game. 2000 players = lots of work for the CPU. More important you have a modern Quad Core CPU like an Intel i5 3570k then a modern graphics card like an AMD HD7970 3GB.
I think Alt+F brings up the fps counter in game and the CPU or GPU next it to lets you know what is limiting your performance.
For my system I get anything from 16 to 45 fps at 1920x1080 depending on where I am how many people there are etc. Biggest gripe with the graphics though is that the game does not feel as smooth as others even when I am up in the 30+ fps .
You would require a quad-core CPU for good, stable framerates, but a 3gb 7970 isn't that necessary unless if you must play on maxed out settings.
I've heard that a i7 and a 680 would get you 40FPS on the highest settings.

I have an i5 3670k which is ocd to 4.2 Ghz and I still get bottlenecked due to CPU, where the load on it is less than 26%...
PS2 is capable of using multiple cores but it is not very well optimised. All number posted are very rough.
what settings should i run it on? not much good if we all run different settings.
with my 680 its surprisingly low lol
If I switch from high to low I only notice an increase of say 10-15 fps even in thickest of combat.
about 15-20, which makes it unplayable for me
I get about 25-40 FPS dependent on the battle taking place at the time.
I use the intel i5 3570K & iGPU HD 4000 to play. No dedicated GPU.
Oh, all settings are on LOW though..
I posted while back in the main Hexus PS2 thread, my tips on performance for lower end systems. See: http://forums.hexus.net/general-gami...ml#post2782909
