Can anyones rig hold down a solid 60fps on the first Crysis yet? Hahaha....

Man I remember preordering this game back in 2006/7?

I remember struggling to get a decent 30fps on my 939 socket dual core cpu with 2GB of DDR1 RAM and a X1950XT GPU

I always said to myself - One day I'll have a rig powerful enough to enjoy this game in all it's glory ^_^

I tried last year with my 955 and Toxic 6950/70. But no luck.

So here we are about 5 and a half years since it's release!
I try playing it today in x64/dx10 mode (latest patch) with very high settings and 2xmsaa.
Still can't hold down a solid 60fps lol!!

I have no doubt that this game is badly optimized by this point. People always said it back in the day, but I really believe it now!

    I mean I am running a 2500k @4.5Ghz, GTX670 (OC) and 8GB DDR3 RAM. This has to be enough!!

Can anyone actually hold down a solid 60fps on this game yet? If so - what the hell is your setup!?

Surely something like an Alienware Pc can do it ?

My card benches in very, very close to a GTX680. So after that it's only a dual card setup that can yield more power when we're talking gaming gpu's!

I guess I'll try again when I end up sli'ing my card in a year or so

Re: Can anyones rig hold down a solid 60fps on the first Crysis yet? Hahaha....

I think I scored 49fps on the crysis benchmark (on very high 1080p) but in game the fps still drops down to the low 20s a lot (on a 6970).

I wouldnt trust the benchmark results - it seems to perform better than playing in game

i never understood why people consider this a pc benchmark game. It doesnt look that great and its unoptimised coding mess the devs have confirmed as much

Yeh I always find I get far better results with benchmarks than the actual game itself, with any game!

I think most of us by now know that Crysis is a terrible benchmark. It was only like that at the start because it just completely destroyed every other game going (in regards to visuals) for some time! I've known for a long time that it's not a good way to judge your pc's performance capabilities. But, it's just a game that really stands out to me in all my time doing this. I've had a go at this game with nearly every upgrade I've done since it came out. I just have fond memories of looking at how it amazing the visuals were in its time, thinking that one day I will be able to enjoy the game looking its best I just can't believe that all this time later with my current rig, I still can't bloody do it lol.... Badly coded game indeed!

I plan on getting a HD 7950 but I guess that won't be enough either to max out Crysis. I am migrating from consoles and my rather knowledgeable housemate keeps telling me that if consoles looked good enough for me up to this point that I don't need to max Crysis to be amazed but...I guess I'm just being silly. >.<

    Alienware is just overpriced
You can get the same ones for like €1000 less.

    @topic: I bet there's a PC that's able to run this game on ultra @ 60 FPS

Stable enough and it ran smooth, maybe in the next few years a single card will be able to hit the 60fps average

    Post back with results people
Remember, I'm talking about the original Crysis game. Not Warhead.
    Warhead is far better optimized....
