    Question BF3 Help

Hi im currently getting rather annoyed with BF3, not cuz im bad at it or cuz i dont like FPS.

Its because i'm getting low FPS and i can't figure out why..
When i first purchased BF3 i ran at 60fps all times this was when there were no updates.

Since then i have upgraded my GPU, PSU, And monitor.. (Not cuz of the Low FPS)
Every other game i have i can run Ultra graphics and still get 60fps minimum.. E.G MOH, Sleeping Dogs,....

I have also seen some other people have had similar problems, the reason i post this is to see if anyone
has a solution my Specs are below just for reference.

    CPU
    AMD Bulldozer 4100 Quad Core
    Motherboard
    Asus M5A78L-M
    Memory
    16gb

    Graphics Card

    Operating System
    Windows 7
    Monitor(s)
    iiyama X2377HDS ProLite 23"

    Re: BF3 Help

Do you get low frame rate when playing solo, or just when you play online? If it's the latter then the problem is most likely with your internet provider, or something else (such as AV/firewall) or even picking a high "ping" server.

This is multiplayer i actually have not tried the solo with it yet ill give that ago and see if it is just multiplayer. Also my ping is usually really low about 30 and i have not tried switching my firewall to gaming mode but ill see if that helps at all cheers.

I think your CPU is the problem, It's the weakest part of your system.

    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

    Re: BF3 Help

The CPU might be your problem, it could be causing a bottleneck in your system. BF3 multiplayer is apparently really CPU intensive. When you are playing lower your resolution to something like 1024x768 and see what happens to your framerate. If it increases quite a bit then the CPU probably isn't your problem but if the fps stays the same then your CPU is creating a bottleneck.

Before I upgraded to an i5-3570K I was using an AMD Athlon X4 and even at a very low resolution at the lowest settings my framerate in BF3 was around 20-60 fps, after the upgrade it got much better.

Open up MSI Afterburner and the Windows Task Manager. That should give you an indication of whether the graphics card is not being used fully.

Also,I would check if you CPU is throttling,ie,whether it is not running at its full clockspeed.

However,if say it is just your CPU being slower, the cheapest upgrade for you will be an FX6300 for around £100.

Its around half between a Core i3 and Core i5 in BF3 MP performance,IIRC.

Yeah i had a bit of a read, i shall invest in an i5 but wont be till later in the year so for now gonna just have to lower the resolution, because when i play with lower i can get 60fps all the time :/ just a bit of a pain

    Re: BF3 Help

This article suggests that BF3 is not CPU intensive, in fact it doesn't seem to care at all what CPU you have. From my experience I got little difference from a really old 1.8 dual core to a 3.3 6 core.
