    Guild Wars 2

Started a new thread as the MMORPG thread was looking a little sorry for itself.

Any way. I've only dipped into the MMO space since Christmas. 3 months and I've tried 3 MMO.

LoTRO was all a bit bland. But I didn't know this at the time. But it did lead me to try the FTP The Old Republic. Being in Star Wars just felt much more exciting. I really enjoyed it. But a friend didn't, and we wanted some MMO to play together (that wasn't WoW).

This lead to to Guild Wars 2. The reviews were glowing. The screen shots were stunning. And best of all, there is no subscription fee. Buy the game and play forever.

And what a brilliant choice. The world is FULL of exciting things to do. Numerous quests and missions. Great crafting and stat leveling. Good story too.

I haven't even dipped into PvP yet. And there is WvW (World vs Word (Server vs Server)). For massive battles.

Even being new to this genre of games I can safely say that GW2 is one of the best games I've played, nevermind an MMO. Do you agree?

I've avoided it so far because I heard it was a bit rubbish after a while.

I think the MMO market is dead or dying... no innovation just imitation

no big upgrade in graphics in the near future either ...

real gaming in general is dying a slow death

    Re: Guild Wars 2

I know melon, WoW only had 9.6 million subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2012...

Played the first one, enjoyed the story side of it greatly. Haven't tried the latest one due to not having any time for a MMO atm!

The previous Guild Wars 2 thread hasn't been updated for a while, but has a range of comments. (Hexus was hiding it as it hasn't been updated for more than a month)

    Re: Guild Wars 2

    Sorry for the buuump.

Re-started playing this as the new expansion has come out in Sept. called Path of Fire and the storyline is better than I thought plus you get mounts in-game now too!
If anyone didn't know, the base game is now Free-2-Play with a few limitations.

I actually play on a US server (long story) Fort Aspenwood, in-game name Vow Konga.
We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.

    Re: Guild Wars 2

Love GW2 I have enjoyed every race, class and maxed them all out. Leaving it alone for a while though, until maybe something fresh comes out.

    Re: Guild Wars 2

I used to play the first game and then the second loads but that was years ago. If I had more time, I'd probably get into them again. I've missed out on quite a few expansions.

    Re: Guild Wars 2

I enjoyed Guild Wars 2 for a little while, PvP was was decent, and WvW was quite fun, but ultimately it didn't keep my interest for very long. Levelling got fairly dull eventually as everything was pretty much the same. Guild Wars 1 I found much more varied and the story and levelling experience going from one area to the next exciting; I imagine Guild Wars 1 would seem fairly dated now though.

    Re: Guild Wars 2

I still play a little guild wars 2 every now and then But my heart lies within guild wars the original.

PvP has never been my thing in both games so when I get time to play I just straight back into some PvE usually with a couple of friends which is way better than playing alone.

There's a pretty decent community still playing guild wars in pre searing too, Which is more than likely where you will find me playing when I get in game.
