Tomb Raider Bug

Hey all.

Surprised I haven't seen a thread about TR already, but this one is not really about the game, it's about a specific game breaking bug I am suffering with. I have tried Googling it, checking the Steam forums, checking the official forums, validating the Steam cache... all to no avail.

I don't wanna ruin it if anyone is playing, but I am really early on in the game so I doubt I will. Basically, I am at the part when you are paired up with the douche who didn't want to go where you are, we open a gate and they walk through with no input from the player. I then immediately fall through the ground and just keep falling, forcing me to reload.

I don't seem to be able to pass this point. Anyone else having this problem? Know of a fix?

Still nothing found, I cannot play it any more. Such a shame, it showed real promise.

Have only seen 2 thread on the Steam forums about this bug, but in different places to me. It's not like the game is open world and I can go other places, or so it seems, so I am stuffed until they patch it. :(

So, Square Enix know about it. Sadly, the only way around these bugs right now is to apparently restart the game. Thankfully, I am less than an hour in, and that includes some random tomb I discovered.

Welcome to gaming. All games have bugs and glitches, just a shame when you find a major one.

Only an hour in, just restart.

I have been gaming for near on 20 years, so I am well aware of this (although it has only really been a major issue in these past years as developers care more about the money than the games). It still doesn't make it acceptable and sarcasm does not help.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't mind so much if it was a graphical glitch, or an area I could avoid, but I cannot progress any further in the game without falling through the ground. Being forced to replay an hour may not seem like much to some, but I have so many games to play and so little free time to enjoy them, wasting 2 hours (plus all the time I have spent so far retrying it, trying to fix it, researching it) is not my idea of fun because a developer cannot properly test their game before releasing it.

Software has bugs. Even if you had 100,000s of hours of game testing, it would still be released with bugs.

Well did starting a new game work? I'll assume so since there are no more replies to this read. :D

Damn, what a stupid bug. First I have heard of this one and surprised it hasn't been patched yet!

Even if you are only an hour into the game, it's still a chore to replay through all them monotomous cut scenes and dialogues!

Hope restarting works for you though, once you get past that game breaking bug the game opens itself up to be a rather good experience.

The problem is the game came out months ago and this bug was reported day 1. Lazy devs FTL

I had the same bug about 8 or 9 hours in to the game, restarting seemed like such a chore at first but I got back to the same point and actually picked up more of the loot and goodies that I missed the first time round in far less time than it took me the first time, so just knowing where I had been before helped me both avoid mistakes and complete sections more efficiently.

Overall I think it was an excellent game, despite the bug(s).

Agreed, although it was a bit too short, and I haven't yet had the urge to replay it, so I would say replayability isn't too good.
