Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

Dirt's not really a rally game, or not one that's even vaguely comparable to the old Colin McRae style ones, it's just a very different setup. It's got much more in common with the Tanner Foust type stuff - rally cars, but not rallying, more larking about for TV. Ironic that it had McRae's name on it really.

Considering what you said earlier about GRID being a tarmac version of Dirt, I'll probably look to get WRC3 and then GRID 2 if it's good.

I would rather get Shift 2 on steam - so in the summer sale - rather than on DVD, although it's a difference of a few pounds. But I don't know if waiting 4 months is pointless, although I do have studying to be doing instead :-P

Probably will end up with WRC3, Shift 2 and GRID 2 soon ^_^

Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

I have Dirt 2 and Dirt 3, the only thing I ever run Dirt 3 for is the benchmarking part, Dirt 2 is by far the better game to play, though I got Dirt 2 free when I pre-ordered Dirt 3 and never finished either game. I have Grid as well, which I got much further into but also never finished it. I keep meaning to go back to them but my back log is getting bigger so I end up playing other stuff.

If you get shift2 on DVD, you can either just use the code from the DVD and download off steam, or load the game from the dvd, as either way, it will register the game with Steam and even if you don't have a steam account the dvd will install Steam on your PC.

Sure about that? It's not listed here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7480-wusf-3601

I wouldn't have thought that would be the case. Especially cos it's from EA.

From what I keep hearing, I've ruled out Dirt 3. Pretty much everyone says 2 is better.

    It'll be WRC3 vs Dirt2, but I think WRC3 will be the one ;-)

Indeed. Dirt 2 is OK for some arcade fun but is not a rally game. WRC has very bad reviews.

That's not the case for me - my DVD copy only allows download via Origin, not Steam. Once on Origin you do get free DLC for the PC version though, one of which is really cool (legends).

Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

But, on another note, If you use a 360 controller and play dirt 3 and then install shift 2, I found For some unknown reason it changes the sensitivity of the controller, i.e rather than going around a corner in dirt it turned every corner into a handbrake turn.

That sounds odd. It didn't happen for me on my x360 pad.

It kept me amused for 20-30 hours and is so cheap now, might as well buy it.

NOTE : if you dont like 'restarting' type games, this isnt for you.

Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

GRID is crap and outdated, DiRT 3 handles way better than DiRT 2, but both are annoying with the menus

DiRT 3 is worth the money if you want a real nice rally experience, get it on sale.

DiRT 4 and GRID 2 look promising though. I def won't pay full price because Codemasters doesn't support their games, and DiRT's multiplayer is a joke, it uses Games for Windows Live FFS
