Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

I played again today and no crashes! Also I couldn't find the setting for steering sensitivity?

Edit : I also feel like I've been out of the flow for a while but even the dials move! And I noticed when you press the gas pedal your foot goes down.. Sweet!

Thanks, I didn't realise you could switch those tabs and now that I've started racing in the C class I've noticed the handline can get a bit wobbly when you go quite fast... And I think I played too much in a short amount of time cos I'm quite quickly getting bored of it (I do that sometimes) and I was shocked when I realised that the online is DEAD :| Although it is pretty old....

Edit : I found a few forum posts sharing controller and car setups... I'll try them soon

@kalniel when you were mentioning the game should be patched... Is that the patch which was brought out to fix some problems? (read about it on another forum / nfs website)

Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

Yes. If you were having crashes it might have been improved by a game patch if your particular hardware/software wasn't as well supported before.

In other news, this is why you wait for reviews of Grid 2:
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...-grid-2-review

So Grid 2 is a strange backwards step, one that manages to retain some of what made the original great while getting lost in its own peculiar sense of drama and never adding enough worthwhile of its own. What should have been the return of a racing great instead feels like another curious offshoot

If GRID 2 is looking like a let down, would you say it's now safe to get dirt 2? I ask cos it's on sale on GMG

Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

I'd say... I'm glad I didn't pre-order GRID2 looking at the reviews. One of the biggest letdowns was the lack of cockpit view. I would definitely get DIRT2, I've finished that game 3 times and I'm on my fourth run now on Savage difficulty.

It focuses much more on off-road racing than DIRT3 (which had a bigger emphasis on Gymkhana [which I didn't really enjoy] and Rallycross). Which is what I liked the franchise for in the first place. The driver voices are more interactive in DIRT2 and the Raid style races are a good challenge for drivers used to rally cars. A nice twist on the rally format.

edit; found an old video I did. One thing I like; the ability to mix and match cars and tracks. Trailblazer cars are meant for the big, open maps but you can run them anywhere in Time trial, as with the other cars. The speed isn't edited. Trailblazer cars are proper mental, and at the highest tier, can be one of the hardest races.

Yes, if you're itching for a more arcady style game, then go for it. It's a good complement to Shift 2.

Bought it for £2! It's a real shame grid wasn't as good as I hoped it to be...

I know I've already got Dirt 2 but would have recommended Grid 1 if I hadn't bought dirt?

No, I had plenty of chance to recommend Grid (1) before and didn't. Dirt 2 is better IHMO. Grid has the same kind of driving characteristics as Dirt.. only it shouldn't because it's not off road. It's a bit outdated graphically, and the AI is rubberbanded like hell.. I mean, really woefully rubberbanded. But in Grid's defence, the way you progress and can select cars/tracks etc. is much better than the sequel appears to be.

Re: Dirt 3 : worth getting?

I think Grid's more interesting as an overall challenge - the career makes much more sense and is a lot more in-depth.

The actual racing is a lot more fun in Dirt though.

I enjoyed Dirt 3, but overall I found the courses to be rather short and seemed to be over before they had begun.

speaking of grid 2 - where the hell are all the reviews? i looked on youtube as i usually like to watch quite a few before i buy a game. but there is basically just ign, gamespot and a couple poorly done amateur reviews. it's release day and that's all there is. that's a bad sign right?
