    best control method for bf3?

    now then.

been playing bf3 for around a week or so, and i suspect i'm shooting myself in the foot with my control method. i'm using a cheapo gamepad, and have been thinking about buying a better one (one with less clumsy/more tactile sticks, ie an xbox controller).

however, i guess the game is much easier using a mouse, not really tried much though...but it seems a lot easier controlling vehicle weapons with the mouse than it is aiming (or at least, pointing in the general vicinity) my shotgun with the gamepad.

i can stretch to around £20-25. i don't play any other games at the mo. would i be better off getting a decent gamepad (will it make a difference?), or a mouse with mo' buttons?

hello mate , i always have 360 controller on standby for flying plane or a chopper but otherwise mouse and keyboard is always best if you can get used to it, you have much more precise control over your aim and movement, Id reccommend buying a decent mouse that fits your hand well it can make a big diffrence.

Do you already have a mouse you could use? Why not just try using it to see how you get on for a bit.

If you find yourself enjoying it more, then maybe look into buying a nicer mouse etc

aye, i'll probably try mouse and keyboard for a bit before deciding...i suspect it'll improve my game, once i get used to it, more than a new controller would. but the benefit of a control means i can sit back in a comfy chair, a luxury that using a mouse and keyboard won't allow.

tbh it doesn't really matter. It's what you prefer; I play exclusively with a controller and quite a few servers fear me lol

Re: best control method for bf3?

it might be that i've got a crap controller. i think i'll buy a new one, and if it's not that, take up the mouse.

problem at the mo is that if i get into a firefight, 99 times out of 100 i die (the 1 chance i have is pure luck), hence why i think it's the gamepad...i could accept 80/20 (being a noob), bite your hand off for 70/30. just can't aim quickly/accurately enough (tried various sensitivity settings to no avail) and get owned. if they're not looking at me, i can kill them fine (although it takes a while to line them up). after 50 hours of play, i think it's hindering my chances of improving.

Practise with a mouse, I set vehicles with a pad and infantry keyboard and mouse. Xbox controller is probably the best controller out there for PC, though the Razer one looked interesting I have read about quality issues with it.

Re: best control method for bf3?

well, i had a go earlier with the mouse and keyboard. i can see why it's the preferred method...but having grown up on consoles, i just don't like using the keyboard for gaming.

i'm having a thought towards a joystick and mouse combo. joystick in the left hand for moving, jumping etc, and mouse (with more than two buttons!) for weapons related stuff. i'd look like a space cadet, but it could be a way forward.

don't kb&m players have an advantage over players on pads?

For FPS games on the PC, I cant understand why you wouldnt use the mouse. You get faster movements (twitching) and also increased aim as you have more to move at your desired speed.
