Does Steam notify you of game updates if Auto Updates are turned off?

I have disabled automatic game updates for Skyrim.
Does anyone know if Steam will still notify me of game updates?

I still want to update the game when updates are available. But I really need to be able to choose how and when to do it due to the nature of modding this game.
I searched this but couldn't find a definitive answer on it surprisingly...

From experience, I'm inclined to say no - but I don't know for certain.

I've stopped the updates on a few of my games and generally there's been no notification. However, a couple of games have highlighted themselves on my games list that an update is required or has been paused (eg HL Deathmatch). I'm not sure, but some games may also notify you when you try to run them next.

I haven't come across update notifications in the 8 years I have been using Steam. It doesn't even tell you there is an update available when you start the game (Uplay won't let you start a game unless it has latest build but it does tell you when you start something then forces the download)

You could check the news link on the grey bar on the Steam store page that is between Recommended and Linux, if something is updated it usually tells you there, some do escape though and there is no news but its worth a shot.
