This is basically the very hard mode and it's now pre-order or $5 dlc

wow just when you think the games publishing industry has reached a peak of :censored: someone goes and pulls out something worse.

i just bought the game and got 10% off because i had the last metro game and received the ranger mode stuff etc. Tbh it was a silly move and they could have made other things as pre order bonuses if it was something to do with retailers wanting something exclusive ie the usual weapons or character armour stuff locking out hard mode is just stupid

I'm just going off EG and Ars Technica's review - the latter signed off by saying wait until it hits a Steam sale.

wow that makes 4a games work even more impressive. I really dont understand thq they spend sooo much developing crappy wrestling games and when gems like metro come along they squander it. It's hard to imagine what the game would have been like with a proper budget. Would they have given gamers the option to continue their saves with the good ending? I hope thq get their act together

They were bought up by Deep Silver.

So nobody read their explanation then? The had an obligation from their publisher to provide pre-order incentives and chose something they felt was less harmful than other aspects:

aren't character skins etc less harmful than a difficulty setting

Dunno - but would the publisher accept it? Personally i'm playing it through the way they recommend first anyway.

Hardly an explanation is it? They suggest they're just following up on THQ's wants - not their own.

Was it their choice? Retailers and publishers place requirements on game studios - all they did was chose what they thought was less 'evil' for customers - seems legit to me.
It's easy to criticise but they didn't have the freedom of being their own publisher.
