Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
Simply put, my partner winds me up and nags about the time I spend gaming on the computer.
I start at 9pm and finish up between 10 and 11:30.. all while her shows are on TV and she is facebooking on her mobile. I play without headphones with no sound (small sacrifice from an earlier row), and sit on the sofa next to her while I play using long monitor cables and a small table, so we still chat and enjoy 'sociable time together'.
Still she moans. So I think she is completely over reacting and needs to find out for herself what gaming is all about.
Can anyone suggest a highly addictive, non scary (especially no clowns) game with a good story that can sway her into liking, no, loving video games?
Please?
Re: Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
Wasting your time, mate.
If she was remotely interested in video games, she'd be watching you play and nagging you to let her have a go. Been there, done that. My wife will happily waste a few hours on facebook and candy crush, and STILL whines when I play games.
Accept the fact that she will resent you playing games. Just as she would if you were out fishing or playing golf for hours on end. The difference is you wouldn't be there to hear her moan about it.
If you want to compromise, play your games in another room, but switch off and go sit with her when she wants to chat or enjoy a movie or something. Physically being in the same room but giving your attention to something other than her will not be appreciated.
Re: Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
Nope. She's right, your only recompense is to moan about trashy TV shows and spending too much time on facebook. Buy a board game that you can play together instead :p
But if you must: Botanicula.
Re: Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
Bioshock series. Depending on what you mean by scary but it is really mild in this regard. I really enjoyed the stories in the first and REALLY enjoyed one of the mindf*ck missions in the second.
To play together, things like Left4Dead might be nice since you will be together and it makes it better IMO.
Walking Dead, Plants vs Zombies, Portal 1 and 2, Little Inferno [high priority this one :D), Great Escape (2003).

My wife doesn't her count endless hours doing online jigsaws as gaming.

Re: Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
I had this issue for years until the missus accepted that me watching her crap on the TV was as little fun for me as her watching me play a game. Not sure what changed her mind in the end, possibly having friends whose other halves played games. I think she thought I was a bit odd as she hardly spent any time around computers or consoles before she met me.
Oh and shame on you all for not suggesting hide the sausage...

I very nearly did. But as I don't know the OP I'm not sure if this would be a scary suggestion or not. Or indeed whether he's a clown :p
Re: Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
I am surprised no one has mentioned The Sims, this is the only game my missus ever played properly.
Raising a family in the virtual world, choosing curtains, carpets and decor in their house.
Re: Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
I believe The sims 3 is good because thats what they naturally good at. (managing the family haha)
Re: Game Recomendation for Girlfriend
I agree with realstock & Nipun, the Sims 3 would be a good recommendation.
Then again my sister and all her friends play Call of Duty, Left for Dead and even Fifa so what would I know :O_o1:

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. It's casual like a Facebook game, but has far more depth. Allows building parks and coasters and whatnot in career mode, with differing scenarios and objectives. Let's her be creative, and do some micro management. Community for the game is still alive and breathing.

Hide the sausage would probably be more immersive for you I guess...
