News: EA's "Great Game Guarantee" allows REFUNDS on Oringin
It seems EA are finally learning.
They have updated their returns policy to allow refunds on Origin purchases, excluding DLC and microtransactions.
Quote:
We stand by our games. If you’re not completely satisfied with your digital download purchase from Origin, you can return it. The Great Game Guarantee allows you to return EA digital game downloads (PC/Mac) purchased on Origin for a full refund within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from your date of purchase or within seven days from the game’s release date if you pre-purchased/pre-ordered, whichever comes first. – EA

I have previously refused to use Origin due to the customer service and greed of EA but things might just be moving in the right direction for me to reconsider.

Interesting. It is good to see that they are doing something genuinely positive but I am interested to see how easy the process is. As people have pointed out, it is possible to blitz some games in less than the 24 hour return window. Google Play initially had a 24 hour return then it dropped to 15 minutes by default.
On the other hand, it may mean EA will really bank on social elements or other somewhat artificial lengtheners on their games. Will they ban abusers and take their game collection away? After Humble Bundle, this really seems like EA has their PR machine at full tilt. But hey, the net effect is positive so I will say good on you EA.

The only issue I can see is that you will most prob have to purchase the game from Origin and their prices are terrible. They barely ever discount them from RRP.

It is for Origin games only. Any retail versions requiring a refund are still to be claimed via the retailer as normal. I agree whic is why Steam will remain my main platform of choice, but if another Origin only game does come that I want (i.e. Sim City 6) then i'll be more open to getting it.
It makes all the difference just knowing that if the game is incomplete and full of bugs I can request a refund within 24hours of disapointment.

What I was getting at was Origin keys purchased other places. For example (as its the only thing off the top of my head) you get keys off Humble Bundle, input them into origin and then ask for a refund, they are not going to refund as they don't know how much you paid. Same goes for full priced games off other websites or boxed retail games you have registered (which shops won't refund).
Meaning unless you pay the EA RRP (normally a good 20-50% more than you can get the same game off Amazon etc) you won't be getting a refund from anyone, EA or Retailer thus making it a bit useless ;)

you need to buy the games through origin, any other method doesn't work.
I checked with my purchase history, and nothing whatsoever is listed, all my games came from promotions or kindly donated.
unless you need to have payment method listed so they know where to refund to. someone else will have to check that though, I can't.
