8hrs to finish the SP side; the number of glitchs / odd actions i found is shocking but then we all know PC games get the rough end of the stick these days and QA is a after thought.

Re: Battlefield 4 discussion and Hardware requirements speculation

I've only run through the 1st mission in SP so far. It wasn't a bad "cinematic experience" but some of the lines are terrible (mission 1 of 7 took 22 minutes to finish with Gold on Hard :/)

Wanted to get it over and done with to unlock the MP weapons but I keep just getting distracted by the MP side. Tonight I can actually get back online with shiny new machine and see if I can have everything at Ultra/1440p on a 64 player server without the computer spazing out.

CrashField 4 !!!! -- What are load of ****, ppl are paying hard earned money for a buggy Game from EA/DICE. What ever happen to QA testing this game and making sure they captured and resolved most of the bugs that were in the Beta ??? Their Comments, We`re working on a newer version than the Beta which will resolve alot of issues of the Beta Bollo*ks!!! The Final Game is fully of Bugs. How on earth are these morons at EA getting away with this, By selling half baked games. We are buying a product thats faulty and should be refunded for it.

I guess they made it as ConsoleField 4 - So they payed more attention to how it plays on Consoles and PCs players came in as second best.

Re: Battlefield 4 discussion and Hardware requirements speculation

Understandable that you are a bit annoyed but BF3 was the same and maybe I'm just accepting it as its just the way PC games were back in the day

Its ****ty and its true that EA forced the release as the last few years they have always wanted release 1-2 weeks before CoD.... would be nice if they just accepted that they aren't comparable games so why compete but thats just not going to happen.

I'm find the game more or less rock stable now, I get kicked out of the game about once every 3-4 hours which isn't the end of the world.

I've been trying to get my head around this lately. You've got to look at it from their side too. I think with all the piracy and devaluing of money that's been going on, plus the increasing complexity of games (which makes for much more intricate bugs that are not so easily squashed, I assume). It's got to be getting harder and harder to release bug free games. But yes, they really should not rush them out so much. Would it really hurt to wait another 6 months after plenty of testing? Wouldn't they rather have the majority of people praising the game when it comes out instead of complaining about bugs? But maybe some bugs just aren't easily spotted until you've got millions of people playing the game all at once. They won't want to leave Beta's running for months as well because it'll kill the anticipation for the full game. So that means they would have to invest tonnes of money into their own testing.

I'm just trying to come up with arguments for the other side here. But, I do also feel annoyed at the quality of new releases (especially on pc) for the last maybe, 5-6 years. Lesson learned here is not to buy games at release. Wait a couple months for patches and driver updates. Not ideal I know. But that's generally good practice these days. Stop preordering from devs who release broken games all the time as well. That's the best way to send a message to them. That said - I did preorder BF4. But it's very rare I actually preorder anything. There's just a handful of games that I love enough to do that with because I want to play them asap.

Re: Battlefield 4 discussion and Hardware requirements speculation

I only preordered BF4 because of China Rising, with the same logic that I preordered BF3 for the Back to Karkand expansion pack. I didn't buy any further expansions, B2K gave a reasonable injection of content till I got bored of BF3. I expect China Rising will similarly keep things interesting before I ultimately tire of BF4 (not interested in Premium) and by then, EA's forced release cycle will have spat out BF5 and I could well preorder that too.

Played a good 4 hours session last night with the new machine and cpu/gpus overclocked. Everything on Ultra @ 1440p on 64 player servers and I only had 1 crash during that time. I call that a success

Btw guys add me to Origin, would be good to jump in game at some point

Haven't monitored an actual number yet. Just played last night and didn't once get any slowdown or judders in framerate which is good enough for me as it seems stable and I'm not noticing anything.

I'll stick FRAPS on tonight and see what it throws out just out of curiosity

Re: Battlefield 4 discussion and Hardware requirements speculation

    Patch day!

    UPDATE #10 (Nov 14):
PC game update is now live!
Details on what the patch includes will be posted in a couple of hours.

    UPDATE #9:
PC Game Update Goes Live Nov 14
We are happy to report that the PC Battlefield 4 game update will go live tomorrow, November 14. The main focus of this update is threefold:

    1) Reduce the number of crashes
We believe this update will solve a large portion of the most commonly occuring game crashes, and the improvement in overall stability should make a big difference for many players.

    2) Eliminate a network sync bug
If you’ve been experiencing situations in multiplayer where it appears that you are taking damage from enemies through walls, you might have been the victim of a network sync bug. In this game update, we have identified and eliminated one such bug that caused this type of gameplay experience. We are continuing to work on more multiplayer optimizations concerning network performance.

    3) Improve Network Smoothing
We have made some improvements to the ”Network Smoothing” functionality that you can find in the OPTIONS>GAMEPLAY menu. The Network Smoothing slider governs a group of settings that aim to produce a tighter multiplayer experience based on your specific packet loss situation.

If you’ve been experimenting with the Network Smoothing slider earlier, it might now yield better results. If you haven’t tried it before, please explore this setting and set it to the lowest value you can without experiencing graphical glitches in the game. By setting it lower, you can get a tighter multiplayer experience, depending on your specific network situation.

    More details upcoming
Besides the above mentioned focus areas, this PC game update contains a number of other fixes and tweaks that we will detail once it’s live.

This game update for PC goes live around 10AM UTC/2AM PST November 14. Your Origin Client should acknowledge and automatically download this update for you, as usual. Otherwise, you can right click your game in the client and select ”Check for Update”. There will be a Battlelog maintenance downtime for about an hour as this update goes live. During this time multiplayer on PC will be unavailable.

We will release full patch notes for this game update later, but the three items mentioned above are by far the most important changes in this update. We understand that stability has been rocky for some players, and hope that this update will make the game run smoother and more stable for you. Let us know in the comments below.
