Question Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

So I built myself an APU based system (5800k) which has ok built in graphics, however this can be combined (dual-graphics) with a 6670 to give a better experience.

Should I buy a 6670 and combine the graphics or buy a separate Higher-end graphics card.

Space on board isn't an issue or inside the case.

What games do you play at what resolution?

    What is your budget?

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

At the moment I have a 430w corsair but am willing to upgrade.

As far as a budget goes I'm happy to spend about £200 on graphics.

Resolution: I'm a console gamer( not used to good graphics) but would like to have decent quality of at least 1080p on my 32" Sony TV. Happy with 40-50 fps.

Obviously I have no experience so I don't know what I can get out of dual graphics.

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

If it was me, I would go for one single card such as a AMD7870 or if the budget can stretch slightly an AMD7950.

Single card if you have the money. Less problems

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

Single card will give you consistent performance and is far less driver dependent. You might just get away with your PSU but it'll be pretty stressed when you're gaming if you go for a higher end GPU.

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

Unless you already own a high level card, then a single high level card would be better. You at least give yourself the option to buy a second when the next generation is released and the prices start to drop.

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

Definitely a single card as suggested in most posts here.
Dual graphics tend to be a massive headache and it's really not worth it in the end. I'd suggest atleast a mid/high end card and upgrade you PSU.

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

i am not much of a graphic user. But i knew some details over gpu programming.if u willing to use a gud cooling system and going play games not always i think high end graphic card is way better because it gives you high quality graphics. But if ur a gamer with 10+ hours per day and not much of cooler fan guy. Then i suggest dual mod is better because it make cards healthier . Gud life time and very law crashes.

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

I've been running unlocked 6950s in crossfire since 2010(?) or whenever they released and they still outperform some far newer single cards.

I will admit I've wasted many an hour messing with profiles to get things working smoothly. You also contend with extra heat and noise. You will typically get more bang for buck with two cards but next upgrade I'm going single card again.

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

From experience, two 670s are, for example, not worth the investment. A single high end card still beats 2 reasonably unoptimised cards in tandem.

Re: Dual graphics or High end graphics card?

Single. Upper-mid range cards like the GTX 760 are great 1080p cards. SLI at that resolution is not worth it. Hence Multi-GPU setups are only seen in 1440p or eyefinity setups.

It's better to go single as you'll run into less issues and you'll still have the option to add another card down the road.

Definitely get a single good card in preference of multiple weaker cards.
